Lesson For Success: How To Become Self-Motivated

    How to become self-motivated

Understanding how to become self-motivated is one of the most desired skills as an entrepreneur.

    Self-Motivation

The thing many of us most desire in life.

It’s something we feel would unlock our greatest capabilities and potential.

Even though it’s something we so desperately crave…

…we look towards external motivation instead.

There is nothing wrong with this form of motivation.

    In fact…

Sometimes external motivation gives you that extra push to become self-motivated

I look towards that “extra push” in the gym when I’m blasting my hardcore music…

But if we are looking to become great…

We need more than just an “extra push”.

Fortunately, there is something much more powerful than external motivation.

Becoming self-motivated is who you are

It’s the difference between the current results you’re getting in life and your identity.

    You see…

You have an identity about how you are in different areas of life.

If your life is not in alignment with your current identity, that drives massive motivation.

If your current identity for yourself – your belief system — is that you should be making several hundred thousand dollars a year and you’re not…

Then there is a massive difference between the results you’re having and what you believe should be happening which creates a sense of discomfort deep within’ you.

In order to become self-motivated we much act on the discomfort we feel when we are out of alignment

In order to become in alignment with your financial identity, you must take consistent action with someone who makes several thousand dollars a year.

Soon, the actions you take consistently will become a habit…

    Then it just becomes effortless.

What areas in your life do you need to become disciplined long enough for it to become a habit of who you are?

Are the things you’re saying about yourself sabotaging your subconscious mind and eroding your possibility of having a powerful identity?

Become self-aware enough to understand who you are and where you should be

    Act on it.

    Become aligned.

    Become great.

  • Increasing Retention of Key Performers In Direct Selling

Increasing Retention of Key Performers In Direct Selling

    Increasing-retention-of-key-performers-in-direct-selling

You don’t become successful in direct selling by trying to build incredible relationships with everyone in your organization, but by building relationships with the RIGHT type of people in your organization.

One of the biggest mistakes in direct selling

Is trying to build an amazing relationship with every person in your organization.

Direct selling is a relationship business…

Why wouldn’t I try and build great relationships with everyone?

I know some of you may night enjoy this next part…

But I want to be direct with you.

There are two types of people in direct selling

    The Chickens…

    And the eagles.

The chickens are the ones who are never going to do anything.

They may talk a big game; however, they produce little to no results.

No matter the relationship you create with them, they never build.

Now let me set things straight…

You may have people in your group and I have people in mine, who produce nothing at all and you have a great relationship with them because they’re cool people.

They may be successful in other areas but are never going to do anything in your business…

    That’s great!

But as far as focusing to build relationships in business, it’s going to be with those who produce.

    The Eagles…

The eagles are what Art Williams calls the “stars” of direct selling

These are the people who have real potential.

Those of us that get up and fly.

Eagles build teams, attend training, and produce results!

Lock up a relationship with eagles.

    Call them to catch up…

    Invite them to play golf…

    Invite them over for dinner…

    Buy them a book…

Do something non-business related to show them you care about them and want to build a relationship that’s more than just money.

    Why?

The 2 Reasons you want to build relationships with eagles in direct selling

Number 1: It financially makes sense and increases your relationship capital in life.

Becoming friends with an eagle will help you soar to greater heights.

Number 2: When they get met with challenges – if you’ve built that solid relationship – they are way less likely to quit.

They associate quitting to quitting not just on the business, but on a friend…

    On a relationship.

I’ve made the mistake of not creating these powerful relationships, and I’ve had the fortune of creating them.

This strategy is going to make you a lot of money based on retaining these key performers in your organization.

Pour into your “star” players and they will pour into you and the organization.

    Remember

Chickens peck at the ground and only dream of taking flight…

Eagles soar through the open skies taking you higher than you thought possible.

  • Lessons For Success: Stop Making Excuses!

Lessons For Success: Stop Making Excuses!

Lessons For Success: Stop Making Excuses

Excuses are one of the biggest factors to why you are not succeeding in business.

Excuses are a huge contributing factor to why you’re not succeeding in business

If you’re not doing what you know you should like…

    Eating right…

    Making the call…

    Working on the project…

    Going to the gym…

    You’re making excuses.

What happens is, unless we have the awareness to call an excuse what it really is, we let those excuses rob us of our success.

These excuses cause us and allow us to not take action.

I these excuses all the time:

“Matt, I don’t speak as well as you do”

You don’t need to speak as I do…

You need to speak as you do!

I sucked when I first started doing videos and speaking on stage.

    I was terrible!

    The more I practiced…

    The better I got.

    “Matt, I don’t have time!”

    Bullshit!

You make time for whatever priorities you have in your life.

What are our excuses really saying about us?

    They’re saying, “I’m a little bitch!”.

“I’m too fearful to do a video.”

“What if nobody watches my videos?”

What am I going to do to overcome the fact that I’m a little bitch?

    Because I don’t want to be one…

    I want to be strong…

    Powerful…

    Confident.

I want to continually break out of my comfort zone so that even if I suck really bad, I will eventually get good.

The only way to get good at something is to stop making excuses and suck at it…

At least for a little bit.

    If your excuse is…

    “I don’t know how!”

That just means you’re a lazy bitch.

Do you want to continue being a lazy bitch?

    No!

Go do something and figure it out.

Get leverage on yourself and create powerful reasons to not be a lazy ass.

How to get leverage on yourself to stop making excuses

    Ask yourself:

What’s going to happen over the next year, five years, ten years, twenty years if I continue being a lazy sack of shit?

    What are the negative consequences?

Am I okay with the negative consequences?

The excuse we often make is because we are fearful.

    I know this because

I used to be the guy to always make excuses

    I’ve been the procrastinator…

    the fearful little bitch.

A person who can’t seem to get through his fears and self-doubts.

But I figured out how to get leverage and set some goals.

    Not just yearly goals.

Not just monthly goals or weekly goals…

    But daily goals.

If I don’t hold true to my daily commitments…

It means I care more about my little precious feelings than giving value to other people and making a difference in people’s lives.

The reason why I was able to break through and have success in network marketing is that I finally got sick and tired of being sick and tired, and I created enough positive reasons to take action and enough negative consequences to get over the things I was fearing.

An excuse is a justification of holding on to our fears. A justification to stay in our comfort zone.

    Call it what it is.

Identify what the real reason is and tackle it.

    Attack it.

Create positive reasons to take action now, and negative consequences if you don’t.

    Go make it happen.

  • How to Impact Others: Don’t Let Fear Hold You Back

How to Impact Others: Don’t Let Fear Hold You Back

Impact Others Lives by Doing What You Are Afraid Of

By holding onto your fears, refusing to step out of your comfort zone, you make no impact in peoples lives. Life is too short to live in fear.

How to Impact Others: Don’t Let Fear Hold You Back

I have had a hell of a turnaround from five years of struggling, always spending more than I was making as an entrepreneur, to eventually being able to earn millions of dollars, travel around the world, have real lifestyle freedom.

It definitely hasn’t always been this way.

I can’t tell you how incredibly frustrating it was the first five years, feeling like I was banging my head against a wall over, and over, and over, and wondering what was wrong with me. because I was watching other people pass me up and I was still where I was.

I had loads of self-doubt and was always beating myself up.

    Can you relate to this?

I didn’t have the confidence to make the calls, to do the things that I knew I needed to do. I would sit on social media and bury myself in a bottle of vodka because it was easier to drink and numb out than it was to actually do the thing that I was afraid of.

    We distract ourselves.

Thank goodness for loads of personal development because eventually, I was able to start doing the things that I was afraid of.

    It Wasn’t an Overnight Process

Everyone always asks me, “What was the one thing?”

I wish I could tell you there was one thing but it was all of the things.

It was learning as much as I could learn.

I was actually on the phone with a young guy earlier and it was inspiring to hear his story.

He hasn’t made any money in the marketing world but has gone through almost every training known to man, spending hours and hours and hours every day, soaking it in, getting the knowledge so that eventually, he can have the success and that’s how I was.

I was just seeking out the information. I’d read a book about every two or three days. I knew if I needed to change my circumstances, I had to change me first.

    The contrast is incredible.

Making money is great, time freedom is great, but the biggest blessing is being proud of the person you’ve become, being comfortable in your own skin, looking in the mirror and loving the person who looks back at you, being able to go into a room and feel like you can own the room or walk on stage and own the stage.

    It’s that feeling of power.

I’m not talking about power as far as controlling another person, I’m talking about personal power.

    Why People Fail

Over the last 24 years, having built teams that have grown to over a million customers, over $ 50M  earners on the team, there is one thing that the million dollar earners have done that the people who fail do not.

What do they have? Is it more charisma? No.

Is it a greater sales ability? No.

Are they better with people? No.

Do they come from a better family? No.

    Are they more educated? No.

The people who have made it simply have the fucking courage to do the thing that they’re afraid of.

The people who fail and I’ve seen thousands fail, the thing that they’re unwilling to do is the thing that they’re afraid of and that’s why they don’t win.

What happens when you don’t do the thing that you’re afraid of?

Obviously, you fail, but more important importantly, more significant than that, there’s a little part of you that dies inside every time.

Every day that goes by that you’re not doing the thing that you know you need to do because you’re paralyzed by fear, a little part of you dies.

You become a little less confident every day when you don’t do the thing that you know you need to do.

    Enough is Enough

Maybe you’re like me. Every day that would go by, I’d beat myself up a little bit more. I had to decide enough is enough.

My question to you is when is enough going to be enough?

I would say I’m very aggressive driven. I want to win. If you challenge me, I want to rise to the challenge.

Some people are more cause-driven and cause-oriented.

It was watching other people pass me by that got me driven.

If I look at the thousands that have not succeeded compared to the ones who have, the ones who have not succeeded, many of them were way more talented than those who won.

If you were to look at them and compare character traits and background, credibility, all of that, you would say the person who failed should have been the one that won, but why didn’t they win?

They refused to do the thing that they were afraid of.

    Get Leverage on Yourself

You’ve got to figure out how to get leverage on yourself.

One of the things that allowed me to get leverage on myself was getting pissed off enough, seeing so many other people pass me up that didn’t have anything more going for them than I had going for me.

    It was an internal competition.

You need to decide when you are going to step up.

If you’re not driven like that, by competition, maybe you’re driven by helping other people.

If that’s the case, let me ask you this.

How many people’s lives are the exact same today because you refused to step up and do the thing that you know you need to do?

In network marketing, when we go out and we do the things that we know we need to do, the things that we’re afraid of, we’re able to impact lives in a positive way.

I’ve had 5,550 on my team achieve a rank that is an average of a couple of thousand dollars a month.

That’s a lot of people earning a pretty significant income.

If I didn’t decide to do the thing that I was afraid of, that would be over 5,000 people whose lives were not impacted in a positive way.

I don’t know if you understand the impact that you can truly have from you telling a person who tells a person, who tells a person, who tells the person, that duplication effect, that exponential growth that can kick in, you, yes, you have the ability to impact thousands and thousands of lives.

Fear is Keeping You From Making an Impact in Peoples Lives

By you staying in helplessness, holding onto your fears, refusing to step out of your comfort zone, allowing your fears to be more important than other people’s lives, guess what?

    You make no impact.

At the end of your life, you’ll be buried. You’ll have a gravestone and you’ll be soon forgotten.

I remember going back to my sixth great grandfather’s grave who was my oldest known ancestor.

I don’t know what I was wanting to get out of going to see the grave.

As I’m sitting there looking at Thomas Bannister Morris, I thought, this is my oldest known ancestor and no one ever mentioned his name. Ever.

I had to find him through ancestry.com.

No one ever said his name. Why? He lived, he died, and he was soon forgotten. Most people will live, they’ll die, and they’ll, too, be soon forgotten.

I’ve got a calling to be immortal, to leave a legacy, to leave an impact that outlives me.

I had to step out of my comfort zone and do the things that I was afraid of to make this possible.

I had to call other people to step out of their comfort zone just like I’m calling you out now to step out of yours

I’m not doing this so that you can go get rich but for you to make an impact so that you can leave a legacy.

Life is Too Short Not to Make an Impact and Overcome Your Fears

    Life is amazingly short.

The earth has been here for tens of millions of years and you’re going to be here for 80, 90, 100 years if you’re lucky.

Life is a blip. It’s a blink. Don’t let your life be all that there is.

You can live and your legacy can live on if you’re willing to do the thing that you’re afraid to do.

    I hope this impacted you.

If you got something out of this, let me know in the comments.

If you feel like this can impact some others, please share it.
