How To Motivate Prospects To Buy

Once you know the secret of how to motivate your prospects to buy

    Things get easier.

I’m going to give you an “insider” secret to have your prospects salivating with motivation.

    But…

Before I give you the goods, lemme first ask you…

What is it that creates motivation in the first place?

    Hmmmm…

You see, if you don’t know the answer, it’s pretty hard to motivate prospects to buy, isn’t it?

    Yes!

    Okay, here’s the answer…

    A Gap.

A gap between where you are and where you really want to be.

The bigger thy psychological gap, the bigger the motivation.

Here’s how an amateur marketer creates that gap for a network marketing opportunity…

“Our opportunity allows you the opportunity to earn a part-time to a full-time opportunity from the comfort of your own home. Imagine being able to wake up without an alarm clock, have a 30-second commute to your office, spend all the time you want with your friends and family, drive your dream car, live in your dream home, and vacation multiple times per year.”

    Sound familiar?

Nothing wrong with being aspirational and stirring up people’s “dream machine”.

But what a PRO realizes is that, while a desire for gain is a motivator…

A much bigger motivator is the avoidance of pain.

When you only present the possibility, you are only doing half of the job to create the “gap”.

Want to motivate your prospects to buy? Always present the problem before the solution…

When you present the problem and the pains associated with the problem, THEN the possibility, you create a massive GAP which naturally creates increased motivation for your prospect.

The challenge is, you can’t exactly present the problem by telling people their life sucks, they have no freedom, they’re broke, they’re trading their life away for a paycheck, etc.

I’ve seen people do this… It doesn’t go over well!

How to accomplish the same thing but without offending anyone…

The most masterful marketers are always the most masterful story-tellers.

When you tell a story about yourself and the pains you associate with not having freedom, your prospect will naturally relate to you even if they don’t have the exact same issues.

Some of you know that I sell books and training to network marketers on how to become successful. If you pay attention, one of the things you’ll notice me doing ALL THE TIME is talking about MY pains associated with struggling as a network marketer.

I struggled for 5 long and painful years…

It was so frustrating wondering why I couldn’t make it work when I saw others crushing it…

I was disheartened and felt defeated because it was like I had tried everything and it still wasn’t working…

In fact, I felt a bit like a fraud because I was trying to promote this “lifestyle freedom” when I didn’t even have it myself!

You know what I hear all the time…

“Matt, it’s like you were speaking to me directly!”

Why do people tell me that so often?

Because by telling my story of my problem and pains, my prospects relate to it and connect with me. (Which increase conversion because

By starting with the pain I create a bigger GAP between the problem and the possibility which creates increased motivation!

If you want to see an example of a sales letter I wrote that converts like CRAZY using this technique, take a look at the web page selling my new eBook…

  • How to Motivate Your Team In Network Marketing

How to Motivate Your Team In Network Marketing

How to Motivate Your Team In Network Marketing

How do you motivate your team in network marketing? Do you motivate or do you replace?

Motivate your team in network marketing by first “motivating” yourself

“There’s no such thing as unmotivated people. There are only people with impotent goals.” – Anthony Robbins

John Maxwell is a little more eloquent when he says, “If you don’t want much, you won’t be motivated to do much.”

    Both are 100% correct.

If you are going to motivate your team…

You must ensure that YOU are first motivating yourself.

A book you should read, especially if you’re in network marketing, is “All You Can Do Is All You Can Do” by Art Williams.

Art built the largest privately held term life insurance company in the world using a network marketing model.

He knows a thing or two about motivation.

In his book, he gives what he believes the key to winning.

    The key? DESIRE.

Those who win simply want it more than those who don’t win.

All the winners I know have an insatiable desire to succeed and something that burns inside their gut!

So, if the key to winning is desire, what’s the key to desire?

The key to desire: A pre-requisite needed to motivate your team in network marketing

“Dreams are the fuel that fire desire.” – Art Williams

It’s dreams that are the fuel that drives you to do the work.

Dreams are the fuel that allows you to face your fears, overcome massive rejection, and keep you going when you’ve been knocked on your ass over and over.

If you don’t naturally have this insane level of desire and if you don’t have these dreams that run through your head regularly, remember this…

You must be Disciplined in creating your desire!

If you’re not motivated, don’t have dreams (written out) and aren’t disciplined…

Then do the following steps below BEFORE you read the second part of this blog that answers the question: “do you motivate your team or do you find people who are already motivated?”

Action steps to find your desire…

Create your BUCKET LIST – at least 100 things you want to be, do, have and give.

Prioritize the top dreams and make sure you look at them regularly, ideally daily.

    Once you’ve done this…

Do you motivate your team in network marketing or replace them?

    Ideally, you would do both…

    However…

If I had to choose one, it would definitely be to find people who are already motivated and have them become a part of your team.

I’ve realized it’s much easier to find people who are motivated than to motivate the unmotivated.

    The people who are unmotivated…

There is a reason they’re unmotivated.

It’s highly unlikely that these types of individuals will ever produce at a high level.

You want to find people who already have the hunger and desire and are looking to kick it up a few notches.

    With unmotivated people…

You’ll always have to babysit them.

Think of somebody in your life that you look up to. Someone that always seems to know the answer, take initiative and produces results.

That’s the type of person you want to go after when recruiting in network marketing.

How do you attract this type of person?

Become the person that THEY would follow.

How to motivate your team in network marketing

Now, a leader’s job (which you are if you’re reading this) is to get your team to take action.

Even those of us with an extreme desire still need some motivation every now and again.

There are 2 ways to ensure motivation is high within’ your organization and your team consistently take action:

    1. Get your team to events.

There is nothing more powerful than attending an event with 1000’s of other people who believe what you believe, are JUICED with excitement and not to mention…

A lot of the people who attend the events already have exactly what you’re looking for.

    Events show you what’s possible.

    2. Have a weekly coaching call

If you’re not currently doing a weekly coaching call…

    Start this week.

Don’t do 1-on-1 coaching with people on your team as this takes up way too much time.

Get your top leaders and schedule a time every week to talk about how to move the needle in your business forward.

    Action Items:

If you haven’t made your list of 100 goals…

    Do it. NOW!

Next, get your top leaders together and agree on a weekly meeting to discuss how to improve what you’re currently doing and bounce ideas off each other.

Lastly, get everyone on your team to a live event.

    Boom! Hope this helps.

  • How to Motivate Your Team in Network Marketing

How to Motivate Your Team in Network Marketing

You don't motivate your team. You inspire them through your own personal production.

In network marketing, you motivate your team by inspiring them through your own personal production.

How to Motivate Your Team in Network Marketing

How do you motivate your team?

There’s a lot of different things that you can do, but in general, I’ll give you the answer right up front.

You don’t motivate your team. You inspire them through your own personal production.

This is often not the answer that people want to hear because most people want to go out and believe some of the hype that you’ve heard from network marketers who say, “All you’ve got to do is put in two people and then they put in two, and they put in two”, or “you put in five, and they put in five, and they put in five”… And we get hooked on that.

In fact, that was exactly what happened to me when I joined network marketing.

    When I joined network marketing…

I went through about three meetings before I actually signed up and my sponsor met me after the meeting and knew exactly what to say to me.

He said, “Matt, you only have to get six. It’s easy. You can do it.” And I was like, “I only have to get six?” So, I joined.

    Unfortunately, that was a lie.

There has never been a leader in the history of network marketing that I have ever heard of who’s enrolled six people and got to a six-figure income.

You have to do a lot more than that but what happens is we think that we only have to get six or five or two or whatever it is and that we’re going to have this duplication factory.

Duplication is real in network marketing.

I think there’s a lot more duplication of leadership in network marketing than the duplication that most people think about.

    [EXPOSED] The Duplication Myth

    Motivate your team.

The mistake is you go out and enroll five people and then you want to go motivate those five to go take action but how do you do that?

The way that you motivate your team is not through putting up interesting quotes. It’s not through doing training calls every day. Now, is it good to do training calls? Absolutely.

I’m not discounting doing training calls, training Zooms, or “wake-up” motivational calls. There’s nothing wrong with doing those things. Those things are good, but if you’re expecting your team to duplicate because you’re just motivating them, that’s not what happens.

As you grow in leadership and you’ve got an organization of thousands of people, it changes a little bit because your team knows you’ve gone out and done the work.

    Personal production.

A role in network marketing is you stay in personal production until you’re at the income level you want to retire at. It’s why I’m still enrolling people.

We do promotions from time to time where you can qualify for certain things and I qualify just about every time. You have to put in two or four sales in a month and I pretty much always qualify for those because I’m always putting people in. But the way that you really motivate your team is not the motivation like we think it is.

It’s not hyping them up with motivational quotes and all that. Some of that’s all really good stuff, but you inspire them through your personal productivity. They see that it’s possible.

Momentum is created through one word. If you want to have momentum in your organization, it’s going to happen because of belief.

If you have a lot of people who have a lot of belief, you have a lot of people taking a lot of action.

How do you give them the belief? Do you tell them, “This is awesome? It works. Go, go, go.”

If they haven’t seen you do it, if they haven’t seen your personal production, they don’t believe it’s true, no matter how much you hype it up. No matter how excited you are. No matter how many motivational quotes and no matter how many training calls you do, they don’t believe so they don’t take action.

    Get serious!

Group momentum comes after personal momentum. You don’t get group momentum until you have personal momentum.

    So, what’s the number?

Enough. You have to do enough.

    What’s the starting point? Thirty.

If you haven’t personally sponsored 30 people in your organization, you’re not really serious.

You can never expect to have a hugely motivated team if you haven’t done at least 30 personals. And some of you haven’t done 30 and you’re like, “No, Matt. I am serious.” Well, you don’t have the results to show it yet.

Your heart may say you’re serious. Your mind may say you’re serious but you’re not a pro. Your group’s not going to be super excited if you haven’t done at least 30. How fast do you have to do the 30? There’s not a number but the faster, the better.

    The Law of Compressed Activity

The first time I ever built a huge team in network marketing, I did 30 in one month.

I’ve never done 30 in one month ever since so you don’t have to do 30, but the faster you put them in, the better it works.

There’s a thing called “the law of compressed activity” and the law of compressed activity says, this is an irrefutable law, the effort that you put in a short compressed amount of time is going to pay you way more money than the same amount of effort put in over an extended period of time.

Why is that true? Why is that an irrefutable law in our profession?

It’s because everything’s based on belief, based on that inspiration. So, if people are inspired and they believe that they can go put in a bunch of sales, they go do it.

What gives them the belief? Seeing someone perform at a level above themselves.

Motivate your team by ranking in your company.

I’ve hit the top rank in my company three times and I’ve had plenty of money doing it twice.

My lifestyle is not changing dramatically because I hit it a third time. Yes, it’s more money and it’s awesome, but the biggest motivation for me to do that was I wanted to go to such a high level that people would say, “Man, if he’s done it three times, surely I can do it once.”

So, if you haven’t hit a rank in your company, your group is probably thinking, “I can’t do it” because you haven’t done it.

Aside from you just making more money, aside from you getting the recognition, realize that your team needs to see you hit rank.

You may be a leader and you may be stuck at the rank that you’re at.

You may have a very comfortable life. So, don’t do it for you. Do it for your team.

Spend less time in a support role.

Do less support of your group for a period of time, get into personal production mode, and watch your team increase.

I’ve done it so many times.

It sounds crazy to spend less time in a support role and more time in personal production mode, but when you pull back from the support a little bit, go into personal production mode, and your team is seeing you do this… Why does your organization grow?

Your organization grows because you gave them what they needed the most and what they needed the most was the inspiration and the belief that they could go do it themselves. And without you doing it, they don’t get that.
