What happens when we run out of our friends/family to talk to? How to we have success when prospecting our cold market?
Cold Market Prospecting Success In Network Marketing
The biggest struggle most network marketers face is not knowing what to do after they’ve run out of their warm market prospects…
They’ve talked to their friends…
Their families…
Even their friend’s friends!
Now what?
I had these same issues when just getting started until I realized one thing.
There is no shortage of people on this planet
There are people everywhere!
It wasn’t that I couldn’t find anyone else to talk to about my opportunity…
The problem was the fear I had towards reaching out to people I didn’t know!
We must break out of our comfort zone if we are to find success in this field.
I read every book…
Meditated…
And attended training to help me get out of this fear.
It wasn’t until I JUST DID IT that I broke through.
Steps for cold market prospecting success
Before we get into the framework…
Let’s get into some easy steps.
First, Make eye contact with your prospect
Second, Say “hi”.
Third, Say “hi” and smile!
Finally, Say “hi”, smile, and ask “how are you?”
BOOM! You’ve just done more than 97% of network marketers out there.
To break out of your comfort zone and move towards success…
We MUST say something to someone.
Sounds simple, doesn’t it?
Initiate the conversation without expectation!
If you screw up (which you will)…
Don’t worry! There are 7 billion other people in the world to talk to.
You probably won’t ever see them again anyway.
Framework for cold market prospecting success
Alrighty, now that we got the steps out of the way…
Let’s dive into the framework.
Posturing yourself for success
Approach every situation with the belief that it is your duty to share this opportunity with someone.
I’ve helped 50+ people become millionaires…
If I would have been too scared to share my opportunity with them…
I wouldn’t have been able to drastically change their lives or the lives of their family.
They need YOU. You DO NOT need them.
Be confident…
Smile…
And have a light-hearted attitude.
Give a sincere compliment
When approaching any prospect…
Give them a sincere compliment!
“That’s an awesome suit! Where’d you get it?”
or
“That’s an awesome dress! My girlfriend would love to wear something like that!”
This starts a conversation while at the same time works to create rapport.
Ask what they do for a living
“What do you do for a living?
Prospect answers
“How long have you been doing it?”
Prospect answers
“You must love what you do seeing as though you’ve been doing it for so long!”
Most of the time they will say they don’t love what they do then…
BAM! That’s your in.
Get their phone number/tell them you’ll call them in a couple of days
Never ask for their phone number…
It makes you sound desperate.
Lead the process.
“Hey listen, I’ve got to go but you seem like a very sharp open-minded individual. I’m looking for leaders & business leaders for my organization. Here, put your number in my phone and we’ll grab a coffee in the next couple of days.”
PRO TIP:
If you really want to build instant credibility/authority…
Hand them your book THEN get them to put their number in your phone.
You’ve created reciprocity (You’ve given them something & they feel the need to give back)…
Created authority…
AND you will be seen as a powerful leader they would want to follow.
If you have any questions about becoming an author… just reach out to me!
Recap:
Say “hi” and smile.
Give a sincere compliment.
Ask questions.
Be matter-of-fact.
Lead the exchange.

The 7 Key Fundamentals that teach you how to close more sales in network marketing
How to close a sale in network marketing
The reason I’ve been able to recruit powerful leaders that have led to over 1 million customers and $ 2 billion in sales over the past 3 years is that I sucked at closing sales in network marketing…
I sucked so bad that I HAD to get good at it.
I’ve discovered some 7-key fundamentals along the way that have allowed me to close more sales in network marketing…
Which led to ultimate time and money freedom.
In order to build a tall building, there must be a deep foundation.
Let’s start building our foundation…
Have fun in the process
This is something I commit to doing every time…
Why?
When you’re not having fun, your prospect isn’t having fun.
However, when you’re smiling, laughing, and genuinely having a good time…
Your prospect is more likely to be having a great time with you and associate that “good time” with your opportunity.
Not only is having fun effective, but it’s a must for the next fundamental…
Fall in love with the process of closing sales in network marketing
I used to be super nervous…
Scared of rejection…
Fearful of what people might think…
And I would have massive anxiety towards the last minute of the presentation.
I hated it!
Closing sucked for me because I was so nervous all the time.
I had to rewire my brain to fall in love with closing.
Realize…
Once you reprogram your brain to get excited, treat it like a game, and love the process of closing…
Your closing numbers will go up drastically.
Show your prospect how to feel when closing
People buy with emotion then justify later with logic.
You may have all the cool benefits and features, but that’s NOT what gets people to sign up.
Lead with emotion.
People will be more drawn to you if they feel like you’re excited and passionate.
Assume the sale!
Assume they’re ready to get started!
Don’t just show someone the business…
Assume you’re about to launch a HUGE team with this person.
I used to use an old school method back in the day where I would bring the application already filled out with as much information as I knew about that individual.
As soon as the presentation was over…
I would say, “Now what was your phone number?”
It was so funny because most of the time they would say, “am I really doing this?”.
YES!
Now, that’s an old school method and I don’t recommend it today…
But you get the point.
Answer these questions during your presentation
Every prospect has 3 questions they will never ask you, but are subconsciously thinking…
- Does It Work?
- Can I Do It?
- Will You Help Me?
Answering these questions throughout the presentations will limit the objections & limiting beliefs they have, therefore, leading to YOU closing more sales.
Close early and close often
When the presentation is over…
Don’t go into salesmanship mode!
Go for the close.
Closing often means if they have objections… answer those objections… then close again!
Be sold on your products and services
Be passionate about what you’re selling.
If you’re not…
Go sell something else!
Be so passionate and sold on your own product that you feel you are doing them a disservice by not having your product/service!

The 3-Step Framework For Overcoming Objections In Network Marketing
How To Overcome Objections In Network Marketing
After building an organization of over 1 million customers and closing thousands of people…
Objections are going to come up.
I’m going to arm you a 3-step framework that teaches you how to overcome objections in network marketing.
You’ll know exactly what to say so you don’t crumble when the objection presents itself…
So you don’t come across as needy…
And so you can maintain a posture that your prospect needs YOU more than you need them.
Step 1: Validate The Objection
Make sure the objection is real!
Many people say, “I’m sorry, I don’t have the money.” as a polite way of saying no.
We must uncover if this objection is valid.
What To Say:
Money Objection – “Hey Mary, be real with me… Is it you really don’t have the money or is this a polite way of saying no?”
You’re validating that her objection was REAL.
If she says “no”…
Instead of challenging her… Let her know you’re just here to help.
“I’m totally cool either way, I just want to help you.”
Sometimes the timing isn’t right…
If you don’t challenge your prospect and help them instead…
When the timing is right, they’ll come back to you.
Step 2: Confirm Desire
In this step, you’re getting them to sell YOU, instead of you trying to sell them.
What to say:
You can say something like, “Tell me this, mary… Do you want financial freedom? Do you see an opportunity here?”
More than likely, your prospect will say “yes” to either one of these questions where you can then proceed to step 3.
Step 3: HELP!
Be a coach!
It is your responsibility to take your prospect from where they are to where they desire to be.
That’s what we do as leaders.
What to say:
“Answer me this honestly, if I could sell you a Ferrari tomorrow for $ 1000 would you buy it?”
The answer will be “yes”.
Why?
Ask yourself the same question.
If you didn’t have $ 1000 but I offered you a $ 250,000 car for $ 1000… What would you do to come up with the money?
You’ll find a way.
“Well Listen, I think you’ll agree with me that you’re powerful enough to come up with the money. I’m guessing you realize that this company can be the financial vehicle that can take you where you want to go in life, but it’s going to require that you’re powerful enough to come up with the money. Do you think you’re powerful enough to get the money in 24-48 hours?”
If your prospect says no…
You don’t want them to be on your team anyway…
On to the next!

Becoming a top leader in network marketing is tough… especially if you’re the one doing all the work!
To understand if you’re on the right track to becoming a top leader in network marketing, we must ask one question:
Are you looking for a mentor or are you looking for a nanny?
Let me explain…
When I first got started with network marketing, I was completely dependent on my upline…
I would get off a conference call and if my upline wasn’t available for a 3-way call, I wouldn’t even try and close my prospect…
I’d say, “you know what? I really want you to talk to Steve or John” or whoever my upline was and I wouldn’t proceed without him getting on the phone to support me.
This led to me getting pissed off at my upline because if they weren’t answering their calls, I didn’t want to ask for the sale.
If I wasn’t asking for the sale without a support line…
Not only was I not making money…
…But do you think I looked like a top leader while needing support from my upline all the time?
HELL NO!
Becoming a top leader in network marketing did NOT come naturally for me
Don’t rely on and base your business on having a “nanny” available to you 24/7…
You’re not a child
I had to get over that and I had to stop wanting this mysterious mentor who was going to be there 24/7 to help me close all my deals.
I was wanting a nanny!
So, have you been looking for a nanny, or have you been wanting a mentor?
Nanny or Mentor?
A mentor is someone who can kick your ass and tell you to stop being dependent on three-way phone calls.
If your upline is not available, do the presentation anyway!
You are good enough to close prospects yourself.
You don’t have to rely upon or use your upline as a crutch.
You’re never going to become powerful until you realize you are good enough.
You are…
Anything else is just a lie.
It’s just a matter of stepping up and actually doing it.
If you’re wanting to be a top leader in network marketing… are you being a mentor or are you being a nanny to your organization?
I see this so often…
When someone gets to a point where they’re having some success – and organization of 20-50 people – and they mother hen their group to death!
You’re doing everything for your group and never building any leadership…
Never building any confidence in your group and you’re seen as a crutch.
It’s good to be available for your team, but if your team is dependent on you to do 3-way calls all day…
You’re going to get burned out… quickly!
If your organization only grows if you’re doing all the work… You haven’t built leadership
You’ve built children.
You are a nanny…
Not a leader.
Empower your leaders to do things themselves…
To increase their confidence in their own abilities.
Tacts are powerful, but if their mindset is wrong, their tactics will never work.
Empower people by giving them the right belief, making them rise up to become a leader vs. staying a child forever.
Here’s a rule in leadership – as a leader, never do for someone what they’re capable of doing themselves.
Believe in other people more than they believe in themselves and sometimes that means they need a kick in the ass.

If you’re not patient with your results, you end up sabotaging yourself.
Be Patient with Your Results in Network Marketing
One of the biggest blessings that I have had is my first five years in business, and during this time, I was a massive failure. I struggled mightily.
I don’t know if you can relate to this, but during that journey, it was incredibly frustrating.
It was beyond frustrating because a number of things were happening.
Number one, I was paralyzed with activity.
I couldn’t seem to get myself to go take action because I didn’t have the confidence inside to move me forward, and the little actions that I did take were not very fruitful.
I did not experience a lot of results and I beat myself up in a big way because of it.
There were so many times I felt like hiding, curling up in the fetal position.
Especially as a man wanting to produce, having the desire to produce, yet not being able to, was incredibly frustrating.
Thankfully, I had enough foresight to go seek out mentors, get educated, and learn things, and as I learned and my expertise increased, my confidence increased, that increased my actions.
I had this philosophy that what you invest in your mind will fill up your wallet. Someone told me that a long time ago and I said, you know what? That makes sense.
I am going to be a success regardless of my current results. I’m going to make it happen.
And if I happen to go in debt, that’s okay because I know I’m going to come out the other side.
I’m going to tell you my suggestion on what you should do with your results and your activity.
Be Patient.
I believe that you need to be patient with your results.
What happens is if you’re not patient with your results, you end up sabotaging yourself.
Sometimes you can’t control the results you’re experiencing.
It’s kind of like going to the gym.
I went to the gym today, and I know by me going to the gym today, I’m not going to have a big transformation in my body, but I also know that as I go every single day, over the course of the last few years, I stay in great shape and never get overweight.
I have transformed my body in a big way. Why? Because I was patient with my results. I realized it was going to take some consistent effort over time.
There’s no overnight formula.
I’ve not seen anyone in the entrepreneurial world that I know personally go from nothing to millionaire in a day or nothing to millionaire in a week or in a month. It just doesn’t happen.
Be patient with your results because your results are not something you can control in the beginning.
If you’re an impatient person like me, it can be hard to do.
Be Impatient With Your Activity
Here’s where you can be impatient.
Be very impatient with your activity, the activity you can control.
If you are impatient with your activity and control it, over the course of time, you’ll eventually get to where you change your results.
You’ll get good enough to where you can control your results because what happens is as you develop mastery in your field, have been doing it long enough, and learn to say the right thing to the right person at the right time, you’ll understand the nuances of leadership development.
I know that I can create momentum in an organization. Why? Because I’ve been doing it long enough.
I was patient with my results for long enough to get mastery.
Then I got mastery, the results started to happen, and then I could actually control my results, but you’ve got to go through that learning curve in the beginning.
For example, if you’re overweight, you know you can go workout every single day, but what happens is you go to the gym a couple of times, and you don’t see the transformation, and your subconscious lies to you and says, “Oh, it doesn’t work anyway.” You make excuses. You lie to yourself.
“I’m just big boned.”
There’s no such thing as big boned. You make up lies like, “It’s genetic.” It’s not genetic.
It’s the fact that you don’t take consistent action long enough, and you don’t stop shoving crap food in your face.
If you do those things, you won’t lose weight, but when you start taking the right actions, you’ve got to be patient long enough to go get the results by being impatient with your activity.
Stop Lying to Yourself
The lies that we tell ourselves in network marketing or in business is that “I’m not cut out for it.”
That’s a lie that you use to hold yourself back.
That’s a lie that you tell yourself so you don’t have to step out of your comfort zone, so you can stay lazy, so you can keep watching TV, or numbing yourself out, scrolling through Facebook all day long for two hours a day, and looking at other people’s lives versus taking action yourself.
Realize that you are lying when that starts to happen.
How do I know this is true? Because it’s exactly what I told myself for a long period of time.
I told myself that I’m wasn’t good enough, old enough, or smart enough. That I wasn’t a good public speaker and was a bad communicator.
All of those things that I told myself were a lie. None of that was true.
I was not too young because there’s other people who are young who’ve succeeded in a big way.
There’s other people who are bad communicators who figured it out and they succeeded in a big way as well.
Eliminate Excuses and Be Patient with Your Results
Be patient with your results. Be impatient with your activity. And that my friends, will lead you to a life that is pretty remarkable.
If you just stick it out long enough, for instance in network marketing, being able to have a residual income that comes in whether you work or not, being able to not have to fight traffic to and from work every day, to be able to not have to wake up to a blaring alarm clock every day, to be able to do something that you are passionate about, something that fulfills you, it’s totally worth it.
Being able to do something that allows you to make an impact in the lives of others instead of just collecting a paycheck.
You Are Worth Way More
When you get that paycheck, you’ve got to look at that and seriously ask yourself, “Is that all I’m worth?”
I had about twenty-four different jobs and there were so many times I looked at what I was earning and I had to ask myself, “Is that really all I’m worth?” I know I’ve got to be worth more than this.
My friend, you are worth way more than what you’re being paid in a job.
There is no limit to the amount of income that you can earn if you’re willing to go get mastery in your field.
Go become an expert in your field. Be an authority in your field. Develop the leadership skills that are necessary to influence other people. And when you get that, it’s the ticket.
You can literally write your own future, travel all around the world, and be a blessing in other people’s lives.
You can have amazing cars, amazing homes, and take amazing vacations. All of that is possible but you’ve got to be willing to stick it out long enough. The results will kick in.
If you feel like this can add some value to some others, feel free to hit the share button. Let me know if you do in the comments so I can give you a shout out.
If you want some advanced training, hop over to LeadwithMatt.com. I’ll show you some strategies that I’ve used over the last twenty-four years that have allowed me to build an organization that’s grown to over a million customers and create an incredible level of time and money freedom.
Take care.

If you get to the point where you are out of leads, you definitely have not adopted the philosophy that I’m about to teach you.
How to Get Leads in Network Marketing
If there’s one thing that I’m amazingly grateful for in network marketing, it’s that I adopted the philosophy that I’m about to share with you, and I can directly count millions of dollars because of this.
What I come across all the time is that people get into desperation mode and say, “Oh my God. I don’t have anyone to talk to. How can I generate leads like this”?
If you get to the point where you are out of leads, you definitely have not adopted the philosophy that I’m about to teach you.
You want to play the long game in network marketing and typically, what happens in most cases is we have a short term mentality.
We overestimate what we can do in a short amount of time, but we grossly underestimate what we can do over a long period of time.
Be Professional
People get into network marketing and they’re not really professionals.
They’re not thinking about 10 or 20 years from now.
They’re playing the short game and because they’re playing the short game, they have this massive sense of urgency.
There’s nothing wrong with a sense of urgency unless the sense of urgency is tied to scarcity.
What I’m talking about is not having the scarcity model of, “If I don’t get people in right now, I’m screwed”.
Yes, you want to have an abundance of leads. When you first get started, you want to run hard.
You want to talk to everyone you know and run through your contacts. Do all of that.
When I decided to be a professional in network marketing over 18 years ago, what happened was I decided network marketing was going to be my career.
That meant that it’s what I’m going to do for the next 20, 30, 40, 50 years of my life.
Play The Long Game
The reason why many people fail in network marketing is because they’re playing the short game.
When you play the short game, you’re not looking at the long term.
By doing this, you’ll leave a fortune on the table because of that scarcity.
When you play the long game, the philosophy is you always want to be meeting people and adding to your funnel.
We have an ATM in network marketing, and when you get people into the ATM, that is your contact.
If you look at your contacts in your cell phone, that’s like an ATM.
You’ve got to have the right debit card and you’ve got to have the right pin code to pull the money out.
Pulling the money out means enrolling them in buying your products or services, or sponsoring them into the business, but what happens is the reason why most people can’t pull any money from the ATM is because they don’t have any money in the ATM.
The money is in the contacts. The money is in the relationships.
Adding Leads to Your ATM
What I decided about 18 years ago is I’m going to get ridiculously good at adding people to my ATM.
If you were to look at my contacts today, there are thousands of names, and these are not imported from my downline or from a list.
These are thousands of people that I’ve met over the last 18 years.
What I started, whenever I added someone to my database, I would create a note that said something like “Talk to them on this day. We talked about this. I met them here”.
I’ve been keeping this database and got this ATM filled with money.
I’ve got to get the money out meaning I got to invite them. I got to pitch them, present my products or services, sponsor them into the business, all that.
I’ve got a ton of money sitting in the ATM due to the fact that I have a ton of relationships because 18 years ago, I decided everyone that I met was going to be put them into my database, and I was going to build a relationship.
There are people who I put in my database many, many years ago, and it took me 10 years to sponsor them.
That’s playing the long game.
The Relationships Story
As you develop more skills in network marketing, there’s going to be a lot of the people that you weren’t able to sponsor years ago, but once you’ve established some success, you’ll be able to sponsor them later.
However, you’ll never sponsor them later if you have this scarcity mentality of, “If I don’t get them now, I’m not going to get them later”.
So, you end up throwing away business cards and leads and delete contacts from your phone.
Relationships are always the money in network marketing.
Whenever I went to any event, I made a conscious effort to go meet people.
I didn’t just pitch them immediately on the opportunity.
Capturing Leads is Fun
I always had a fun goal.
If there are one hundred people at an event, I’d create a goal of getting a business card from 20% of the people.
I’ve got hundreds, and hundreds, and hundreds of business cards of people that I’ve met. And on the back of the cards, I’ll write how I met them.
Then when you call them, whether it’s immediately afterward, or two years later, you can remember, “Hey, we talked on this. We talked about this. I remember you being a really sharp person”.
Because I’ve done this consistently for so many years, if I’m in a rush and there’s a contest or promotion going on, and I need to sponsor four people this month, I can easily do that because I filled up my ATM over the last 18 years with lots of contacts.
I’m never in scarcity mode when it comes to recruiting, or selling my products or services because I’ve established this.
Stay in Contact
Obviously, it’s going to work way better if you stay in contact with people, reach out from time to time, and strengthen the relationship.
Because as someone forgets you, they kind of fall out of your ATM and it becomes a lot harder to sponsor them.
I remember getting into sponsoring mode, calling someone, and I was like, “Hey John, it’s Matt. Listen, I don’t know if you remember me, but we met a few years ago. I remember you being a really sharp guy and I just wanted to see if you’re open minded to looking at something else.”
The guy had no idea who I was, but he was open to looking because it was just the right timing.
The thing is if I hadn’t been doing this over the years, then I wouldn’t have any money in my ATM. Your phone is an ATM.
You’ve got to extract the money out but you need to be loading it up. So, play the long game.
Make a concerted effort today that you’re going to load up your ATM with lots and lots of relationships and if they don’t join you now, it’s okay because a year from now, five years from now, 10 years from now, the timing may be better.
Don’t Collect Leads, Make Friends
If you’re a pro and this is your career, it’s okay if it takes you 10 years to sponsor someone.
You’re going to sponsor a lot of other people along the way but because you’re building this amazing database of relationships and contacts, you never have to be in scarcity mode.
Decide you’re going to play the long game, decide you’re going to be a pro, decide this is what you’re going to be doing for the next 20, 30, 40 years.
This is your career. Start loading it up.
When you’re out and about, meet people. Don’t worry about sponsoring them.
What happens in the cold market world is that people get so pressured into thinking about having to sponsor someone.
No. Just make friends, get business cards, and exchange info. Don’t put all that pressure on yourself.
If you’re not going to get the number anyway because of the pressure, just get it.
Once you get good at getting phone numbers and business cards, then you can become more comfortable on actually calling, inviting, pitching, and prospecting and sorting through them.
I hope this added a ton of value.

Fear is the biggest emotion in network marketing.
Overcoming Fear in Network Marketing
Fear is the biggest emotion in network marketing and I’ve certainly found that to be the case.
You may guess what I’m about to tell you.
The first thing is probably what you would initially think and then I’m going to talk about something a little bit different.
My favorite book about fear is by Susan Jeffers, Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway. She talks about the five truths of fear and one of those is that everyone has fear. You’re not alone.
One of those is realizing that if you don’t get over the fear, and you don’t do the thing that you’re fearful for, you live in helplessness the rest of your life.
Hopefully, your fear of living in hopelessness is bigger than your fear of whatever it is you’re afraid to do.
We know we can’t just flip a switch and eliminate fear.
I had a lot of fear for a long time.
People want to be an influencer online but they’re afraid of doing live videos.
Maybe they’ve done one and it was such a scary experience that they never do another one.
So, how do you break through that fear?
The Secret to Overcoming Fear is Doing the Thing That You’re Afraid of.
I’ll admit, when I first started doing live videos, it was a little bit nerve-wracking. There was a little fear going on.
When I first started recording videos that I’d put up on YouTube many, many years ago, it was fearful and nerve-wracking.
My videos sucked but I overcame the fear by doing the thing that I was afraid of. That’s the intuitive thing.
Everyone talks about how the key to overcoming fear is to do what you’re afraid of and eventually the death of that fear is inevitable. That’s true. And we know that. I think you’ve probably heard that a million times.
I want to dig a little deeper today.
You Can’t Flip a Switch and Eliminate Fear.
I’ve tried praying and meditating on it but the bottom line is you’ve got to do it. Do it and you’re going to overcome it.
Someone can tell you do it, do it, do it all day long, and you still have so much fear, you don’t do it. So, what do you do to get yourself to do the thing that you’re afraid of?
I think you probably know in your heart if you just kept doing it over, and over, and over, even if you’re afraid, you can get over it. Hopefully, you know that’s the case.
It’s the same with public speaking.
I Was Deathly Afraid of Speaking in Public.
My mentor told me I was going to speak one night and I was like, “No way! I’m not.” And he said, “Yes, you are”.
So, I eventually did it.
I was pressured into doing it. I sucked and was terrible.
The first presentation I did, I remember there being six people. Luckily, only six people showed up. There were supposed to be 100 and I was so bad, three out of the six walked out.
Have you heard the saying in network marketing that you can’t say the wrong thing to the right person and you can’t say the right thing to the wrong person?
That’s not true at all because one of the guys that walked out, someone else showed him the business a few months later, and he joined and became a top earner in our company. But he had seen part of my presentation and because I was so awful, he left.
I said the wrong thing to the right person.
Your fear is going to control you if you don’t have a commitment that’s bigger than the fear.
I was really afraid of speaking in public but my commitment to being a success in my life, my commitment to being a hero to my unborn children, that was greater than my fear of speaking in public.
Consciously, I chose that my fear of not being a hero to my children, my fear of not having financial freedom, and my fear of not rising to my potential was way bigger than my fear of getting on stage.
I had to wrestle with myself and I had to have many conversations with myself about that.
Make Sure Your Commitment Is Strong Enough
If you are struggling with fear today, and you don’t seem to be able to break through it, you need to take a serious look at your commitment. Chances are that commitment is not strong enough.
You want to develop reasons why your commitment is going to be stronger than the fear.
When you figure out why you must overcome the fear, guess what happens? You figure out how to overcome the fear. You end up getting over it because your commitment is bigger than the fear.
I look at my life and who I want to be.
I want to be a hero to my children. That’s important to me. That’s something I’m amazingly committed to and because I’m committed to being a hero to my children, the fear of not living up to that commitment is bigger than my fear of doing a live video.
Another part of my purpose is helping other people live up to their highest potential. My fear of not helping other people live up to their highest potential is greater than my fear of stepping out of my comfort zone.
You want to stack these commitments.
My fear of not living up to my own highest potential is greater than my fear of stepping out of my comfort zone.
It’s why I am able to step out of my comfort zone.
Why I’ve been able to do it consistently for years is because I have commitments that are greater than the level of fear of breaking out of my comfort zone.
Be More Committed Than Your Are Fearful
Figure out what you really want your life to look like. Get committed to those things and start programming yourself that you’re way more committed than you are fearful.
And your fear of not living up to those commitments is bigger than the fear of stepping out of your comfort zone in whatever way that you need to.
I hope this makes sense.
It’s an extremely valuable process that I’ve gone through. You can almost relate it to “I am statements”.
Who are you and who are you committed to being?
I’ve got a list of things.
Be a Super Daddy.
Be one of the most confident men in the world.
I’m committed to touching, moving, and inspiring people.
I’m committed to making a difference and leaving a legacy.
Also, I’m committed to leaving an impact that survives me so that I have a legacy that lives on.
The more I step out of my comfort zone, the more likely I am to actually make that a reality.
Once you’ve overcome the fear, you’re going to look back in disbelief at how fearful you really were.
Take public speaking for an example. It consumed me. I was so incredibly afraid to get on stage. It was like butterflies in my stomach. I wanted to vomit. I always wanted to back out.
Before it was time to get on stage, I was like, “Man, I wish I wouldn’t have done this because I hate this feeling” but my commitments were higher so I continued doing it.
When I get on stage now, I can’t believe I was so afraid because today, the fear is gone. I’ve done it hundreds of times.
There may be some people who’ve done it 100 or 200 times and they still have crazy amounts of fear, but what you find is in general, most people are able to get over that.
Now, I still stress myself out but I almost consider that to be healthy.
Before I get on stage, I’m always kind of stressing out because I want to deliver in a big way.
My mission and purpose are to impact lives so I want to make sure that I say the right things, come from the right place, and I have the right energy. So, there’s still a little stress there, but the crippling fear has gone away.
Same thing with cold calling people, meeting strangers, whatever it may be. Eventually, you’ll get to the point where you’ll look back, and you’ll say, “Wow! I can’t believe I was so afraid”.
The joy in all this, and this is really what I want you to feel, the joy is turning into the person who is able to overcome a crippling fear.
If you want to know some secrets to being very, very confident, that comes from you becoming the kind of person who has overcome obstacles.
The more obstacles you overcome, the more confidence you end up developing.
Overcome the fear because of the feeling that you get to have, being able to look in the mirror, and being proud of yourself, versus looking in the mirror and staring back at unrealized potential.
That was the way I lived for a long time.
When I’d stare in the mirror, what was looking back at me was unrealized potential.
Today, I look in the mirror, and I certainly have a lot more potential.
I have a lot of room for growth in a lot of different ways, but I’m proud. I’m proud that I was able to step out of my comfort zone in so many ways to overcome those fears.
If you feel like this can add some value to some others, feel free to share this.

The value of the promotion is your attitude towards it and your promotion of the promotion.
The Value of Promotion in Network Marketing
I just got off a webinar with over a thousand people and maxed out the Zoom platform to roll out a promotion for our company, and the fact that myself and my other business partner did the promotion is a huge, huge lesson that I want to cover with you because whether you’ve got one person in your group, or you’ve got a million people in your group, you are a leader. And my biggest calling is rising up leaders in our profession.
If you’re in network marketing, chances are your company will run promotions from time to time. Maybe your up line is the one running the promotions. And I will tell you, as you start developing a team, you should be running promotions for certain things.
I’m not talking about any groundbreaking promotions. I’m talking about any promotion. It may be to sponsor one person this month and you get to go to a dinner.
That is one of the best promotions you can possibly run because it makes people feel special.
Maybe it’s you sponsor X amount of people and you make some money. Maybe it’s a 20% discount this month on your products and services, whatever it is.
Duplication of Leadership.
The key in leadership is not having a bunch of followers, it’s not just making a bunch of money, it’s helping other people rise as leaders.
Our real value in leadership is helping other people become leaders. That’s where the real duplication comes from. It’s always the duplication of leadership. It’s not necessarily the duplication of someone who goes out and gets one, then that person gets one, or two who gets two.
The real money is all in duplication of leadership.
It’s where financial freedom comes from. It’s where you can get to the point in network marketing where you can throw away your cell phone, never answer it again, and your income doesn’t skip a beat. You’re financially secure.
That’s what I want for you and that’s why I do these lessons.
The Value of Promotion
The value of any promotion is never just the promotion itself.
The value of the promotion is your attitude towards it and your promotion of the promotion.
Our company just rolled out a big promotion.
Now, if I want my check to go dramatically up and I want my leaders checks to go dramatically up, I have to follow this advice.
I can’t just rely on the promotion itself, no matter how good it is.
The people who follow my advice here are the ones who are going to capitalize on it the most.
You may get a little increase without doing this because the promotion is really good, but you’re going to get nowhere close to the total value that you can get from it if you don’t follow this advice.
Your Attitude Towards a Promotion
Number one is your attitude towards a promotion.
You have to be excited about the promotion if you want your team to be excited about it.
Let me explain behavioral psychology very briefly.
The way it works is if we want to have a lot of success in life, where does that come from? It comes from you and your team taking the right actions.
Where do actions come from? Actions come from feelings.
Your action is going to be based on your feelings.
More importantly, in network marketing, this is a game of leadership.
You need your team to be excited. Your team will take more action is they’re excited, motivated, and confident.
You have to be excited, motivated, and transmit a level of certainty and confidence if you want your people to feel certainty and confidence.
Belief Comes from Programming
Actions follow feelings which follow belief and belief comes from programming.
Why did I do a webinar today with my buddy? I want to program my team to be excited.
I want to let them know I’m excited. I’m certain. I’m confident. I know this is going to be a game-changer, right?
If I want my team to have that certainty, I’ve got to transmit that certainty to them. That’s the attitude you need to have towards a promotion.
Within a few hours of our company rolling out this promotion, I did a big team webinar to announce it to everyone and promoted it because if I don’t promote it to my team and they don’t see me promoting it, guess what happens? They don’t promote it because they think it must not be that good.
Realize that no matter what the promotion is, you need to be excited about the promotion. You need to transmit that excitement and you need to promote the promotion.
If you don’t promote the promotion, you get a tiny value.
What happens is companies roll out a promotion and some leaders capitalize on it. It allows them to make way more money. Some leaders make a little bit more money and some leaders don’t make any more money.
What’s the difference? It’s the leader’s attitude in their promotion of the promotion. That’s it, my friends.
This is a simple but incredibly important lesson as leaders and is one that you cannot ignore. You cannot forget this.
If you feel like this can add some value to some others, definitely share it with them and I always appreciate the comments so let me know what you got out of this.
If you want some more advanced training on leadership, hop over to LeadwithMatt.com. And I’m going to give you some strategies on becoming a powerful leader and showing you how to recruit some powerful leaders as well.
