🚨 A done-for-you funnel that says I’ll make $10K this month? Yes, please.
🚨 A low-ticket course that promises I can earn passive income by next week? Take my money.
I wasn’t lazy. I was desperate for a win.
And I truly believed there had to be an easier way than what everyone else was doing.
But here’s what actually happened:
- I spent hundreds of hours watching webinars and piecing together strategies from 10 different people.
- I wasted thousands of dollars on systems that weren’t aligned with my values or business model.
- I ended up more confused, overwhelmed, and further behind than when I started.
And it hit me one day — hard.
👉 Many times we look to shiny objects looking for shortcuts to avoid the hard work that building a business requires.
But constantly searching for shortcuts?
That’s even harder work.

What Are “Shiny Objects” and Why Are They So Dangerous?
In the world of entrepreneurship, a “shiny object” is any new idea, trend, tool, or offer that distracts you from your current plan or strategy.
They show up disguised as:
- 💰 High-ticket affiliate offers
- 🎥 Fancy ad strategies that promise instant ROI
- 📦 Done-for-you business-in-a-box
- 🧙♂️ Mentors who guarantee fast results
- 🧩 New platforms, courses, templates, apps…
And don’t get me wrong — not all of these are scams.
Some are legit.
But none of them can replace the real work you need to do to build your business: learning skills, building relationships, and showing up daily.
Why We Fall for Shiny Objects
Let’s be honest: we fall for shortcuts because we’re human.
We don’t want to struggle.
We don’t want to feel behind.
We want results — now.
And in a world where people post 6-figure screenshots and “client wins” all day, it’s easy to feel like you’re the only one not making it.
But what you don’t see is the years those people put in — failing, learning, testing, and tweaking.
The Real Shortcut: Doing the Work
Here’s the truth most people won’t tell you:
💡 The real shortcut… is sticking with one thing long enough to master it.
💡 The real shortcut… is failing forward instead of bouncing to something new.
💡 The real shortcut… is letting go of your need for speed, and falling in love with the process.
Because once I let go of chasing shiny objects — once I stopped thinking there was some magical program out there that was going to save me —
that’s when my business started growing.
That’s when the money came.
That’s when people started reaching out to me asking for help.
Why? Because I had finally done the one thing I was avoiding:
The actual work.
5 Signs You Might Be Stuck in Shiny Object Syndrome
Be honest with yourself. Are you experiencing any of these?
- You’ve joined multiple affiliate programs but haven’t made money with any of them.

Here’s what worked for me (and what I now teach my students and team):

It doesn’t matter if it’s YouTube, email marketing, or TikTok.
What matters is consistency.
Pick one thing — and commit to doing it for 90 days.
2. Learn One Skill at a Time
Don’t try to master everything at once.
Focus on ONE skill: copywriting, video editing, lead generation, or sales.
Master it.
Then move on.
3. Follow ONE Mentor or Course
Stop trying to piece together advice from 15 different creators.
Pick ONE mentor whose values and business model align with yours.
Then block out the rest.
4. Create Before You Consume
Don’t scroll.
Don’t overthink.
Just create content, make offers, talk to people, and build relationships.
Every single day.
5. Reflect Weekly
Ask yourself:
- Did I stay focused?
- Did I take messy action?
- Am I still looking for shortcuts?
Awareness is the first step to change.

You don’t need the next big thing.
You don’t need the latest strategy.
You don’t need a million followers.
