Let’s be honest for a second.

If all you do on LinkedIn is message people and try to get them on the phone… eventually someone is going to think you’re a spammer.

And that’s the last thing you want.

LinkedIn rewards activity — but not random activity. It rewards relevant content, authentic engagement, and relationship-building behavior.

So let’s break down how to post the right way and turn engagement into actual conversations.

Step 1: Post Consistently (But Don’t Overdo It)

When it comes to posting frequency:

  • Post once per day
  • No more than twice per day

That’s it.

More isn’t better. Better is better.

The more relevant your content is, the stronger the attraction factor becomes. Not just for your current network — but also for the new people coming into your network.

Quality attracts.
Consistency builds trust.

Step 2: Be Relevant, Believable, and Real

LinkedIn is not just a highlight reel platform.

Yes, professionalism matters.
But authenticity matters more.

One example of a powerful post structure is sharing something personal — like learning to listen to your heart instead of the constant noise in your head.

That type of message resonates because it’s human.

But here’s something important:

Vulnerability Does NOT Mean Oversharing

There’s a difference between:

  • Sharing growth
  • Dumping your problems online

If you share something vulnerable, always share the resolution.

Don’t just say:

“Life is hard.”

Say:

“Life was hard. Here’s what I learned. Here’s how I solved it.”

Why?

Because your reputation online should always reflect one thing:

You are a problem solver.

And that’s what business is — solving problems.

Even if your post isn’t directly about your product or service, it should reinforce that you think like someone who finds solutions.

Step 3: Use the Notifications Section Strategically

Most people ignore this feature.

That’s a mistake.

The notifications section gives you powerful information:

  • Birthdays
  • New job announcements
  • Work anniversaries
  • Post engagement statistics

This is relationship gold.

If someone gets a new job?
Congratulate them.

If it’s their birthday?
Acknowledge it.

If they engage with your post?
That’s your opportunity.

Step 4: Turn Engagement Into Conversations

Here’s where it gets strategic.

Let’s say someone likes your post.

Instead of doing nothing, send them a simple message:

“Hey Grant, thank you so much for liking and supporting my post. I appreciate you.”

That’s it.

No pitch.

No pressure.

Now one of two things happens:

  1. They don’t respond. That’s fine.
  2. They respond, “You’re welcome!”

If they respond?

Now the door is open.

You can naturally transition into a conversation like:

“By the way, are you open to hearing about an opportunity where we could potentially link arms and make an impact?”

Notice the flow:

Engagement → Appreciation → Conversation → Opportunity

That’s relationship marketing done correctly.

Step 5: Focus on Being Active, Not Aggressive

LinkedIn rewards activity.

But activity doesn’t mean blasting messages nonstop.

It means:

  • Posting relevant content
  • Engaging with your network
  • Replying to comments
  • Starting conversations organically

When you combine content with conversations, you stop looking like a spammer and start looking like a professional.

The Bigger Picture

If you only message people, you look transactional.

If you only post, you miss connection opportunities.

But when you:

  • Post consistently
  • Share real, solution-based content
  • Monitor engagement
  • Follow up with appreciation
  • Open natural conversations

You create momentum.

And momentum creates opportunity.

Final Thought

Everything on LinkedIn should point back to one core identity:

You are someone who solves problems.

Not someone who complains.
Not someone who pitches randomly.
Not someone who disappears.

Be visible.
Be valuable.
Be relational.

That’s how you build influence — and business — on LinkedIn.
