The basic premise of increasing your income and profitability boils down to how well you can

1) increase the number of new buyers,

2) increase the dollar amount of all sales, and

Promoting your own products makes sense if you have the time, talent, and expertise to pull this off because you stand to make 100% of the revenue ( minus taxes ) generated by all the sales generated which is significantly higher than the commissions paid by most affiliate programs.

If you are new online, this is probably the hardest route to take to get profitable fast.  It can be done, but there are a lot of moving parts and as a newbie, it's easy to get confused and overwhelmed by all of the things that you will have to learn to make this business model work.

If you've ever heard of eBay or Amazon, you have some idea as to how big a deal eCommerce is.  As the traditional retail market continues to shrink, eCommerce is growing exponentially and this is one way that almost anyone with a computer and about 3 hours a day can supplement or totally replace their 9-5 income.  When you are just starting in eCommerce, I recommend that (unless you have a huge budget to start with, I recommend starting with dropshipping.

Network Marketing

MLM is a business model that pays you a commission for direct product sales, plus the opportunity to recruit or sponsor other business builders on your team where you can then earn a tiny commission when purchase, consume or sell products and services.

Fortunes have been made in the network marketing arena and it works. But it takes time and “the secret”  In spite of what many newbie network marketers might tell you, you will not “get rich” overnight.  In fact, most network marketers don't make any money at all.  But Network marketing is a Get Rich slowly  ( as in 5-10  years ) of consistent work and execution.  It all boils down to being able to consistently introduce the business to new prospects on a consistent basis over an extended period of time. Think leads, more leads, and even more leads. Figure 3-5 years of constantly promoting your new MLM business to hit a solid six-figure income on the low end and 7-10 years of effort on the high end.

Affiliate marketing overlaps with other Internet marketing methods to some degree, because affiliates often use regular advertising methods. Those methods include organic search engine optimization (SEO), paid search engine marketing (PPC, Pay Per Click), e-mail marketing, content marketing and in some sense display advertising. On the other hand, affiliates sometimes use less orthodox techniques, such as publishing reviews of products or services offered by a partner.

  1. You don't have to create your own products.
  2. In most cases, the Affiliate program has done most of the work for you.
    • a. They have created the products
    • Built and tested the sales funnels
    • They handle all customer-related issues.
  3. As a newbie, all you have to do is master traffic generation, and send that traffic to the offer.
  4. The skills that you develop in building your Affiliate marketing business are required for every other business model mentioned.  So once you have mastered, traffic generation, building your own sales funnels, and conversion, those skills make building all of the other previously mentioned businesses easier!  But you don't have to be good at any of those skills except traffic generation to get started in affiliate marketing.
  5. If you don't have a budget for paid advertisements, you can start driving traffic with free sources like video marketing with Youtube, SEO and even Facebook and Twitter marketing.

Now some people will tell you that affiliate marketing is easy.  But I'm gonna be frank…  If you are looking for some overnight success system that pours money into your bank account without you having to do any work, then you might as well get used to the idea of punching the clock at your nine-to-five for the rest of your life, because no such system exists.

There is work involved.  And most of that work will be in developing YOU!

7 Steps I’m Using to Climb the Leaderboards (and You Can Too)

Have you ever wondered what those people at the very top of the leaderboard are doing to get there?

What is their secret? Do they know something you don’t? Do they have some kind of magical powers that only a few people in affiliate marketing ever get?

I used to wonder the same thing.

For years, I was frustrated. I worked hard, but I stayed stuck — barely getting leads, barely making sales.

But now, after rebooting my business, things are starting to click. I’m consistently generating leads and sales, and I’m on track to hit the top 3 on my company’s leaderboard this month.

So today, I want to share the exact tips I’m learning from my millionaire mentor — the same ones that are helping me finally see results.


Step 1: Master ONE Traffic Source

This was my first breakthrough.

There are so many ways to get traffic: Facebook ads, YouTube, TikTok, solo ads, CPA… it’s overwhelming.

In the past, I tried a little bit of everything — but because I never focused on one thing long enough, I never got good at any of them.

What I’m learning now is this: pick one strategy and master it.

For me, that’s solo ads. Some people love them, some people hate them — but I chose to get really good at them, and now they work for me.

When you focus on one traffic source, you can get predictable results — and predictability means progress.


Step 2: Be Ultra Consistent

This is the key that separates wannabe entrepreneurs from real ones.

Most people only work on their business when they feel motivated. But the truth is, consistency is where the magic happens.

My goal now is simple: generate leads every single day — no excuses.

If you can generate at least 50 leads a day (consistently), you will find yourself in the top 10–15 of almost any leaderboard.

Consistency builds trust. Consistency builds momentum.


Step 3: Create Lead Magnets That Brand YOU

This one was a game-changer for me.

Top marketers don’t just send traffic to the same generic pages as everyone else. They brand themselves.

That means creating something free that solves a problem for your audience — a short PDF, a video training, a checklist — and giving it away in exchange for their email.

If you’re not ready to create your own capture page yet, that’s okay. You can still use the one your company provides, but send your freebie as your first follow-up email.

When people see that you’re helping them right away, you start building a real relationship — and relationships create sales.


Step 4: Offer Bonuses

People love getting extra value. And let’s be real — if you’re not offering a bonus, someone else probably is.

Your bonus doesn’t have to be fancy. It could be:

  • A done-for-you lead magnet
  • A short consultation call
  • A private Facebook group
  • A training you bought with private label rights

The point is to give them something that makes your offer more valuable than everyone else’s.


Step 5: Use Email to Build Relationships

This is a big one I ignored for too long.

Email isn’t just for selling — it’s for connecting.

I now email my list daily with value — blog posts, videos, tips — things that help them solve their problems.

When you give value, people open your emails. And when they open your emails, they click. And when they click, they buy.


Step 6: Call Your New Members

This is something I’m adding into my reboot right now — and it’s powerful.

When someone joins your list or buys from you, pick up the phone and call them.

You don’t have to sell them anything — just thank them, welcome them, and ask about their goals.

This personal touch sets you apart. People do business with people they trust — and nothing builds trust faster than a real conversation.


Step 7: Wash, Rinse, Repeat

This is the part most people skip.

They do the right things for a week, don’t see big results, and quit.

But here’s what I’m learning: consistency over time is where the breakthrough happens.

If you do these steps every day for six months, your life will look completely different.

To sign up to and become an affiliate for many vendors is TOTALLY FREE in most cases.  In some cases, you are often required to disclose a website and the advertising method that you chose to use to promote their products

Some of the larger, more well-known affiliate networks might not approve you initially but sites like JVZoo.com and Clickbank.com offer free instant acceptance

 

Market Research

Before you prove a product to promote, you have to choose a niche and do research on your target market.  The most important part of your marketing efforts is to determine who your target market is and how you can best serve them.   This means that you have to gain an understanding of their wants and desires. You must come to know what makes them tick… What are they afraid of, what makes them angry, what keeps them up at night.

You must come to know your target market so well, that when you speak to them, they feel as though you are reading their minds.

 

 

Proven Affiliate Marketing Tactics

Once you have determined your niche and your target market and you have an understanding of how to best serve them, then you can start looking for products that you can promote.

The next phase is to MARKET your affiliate link to the people who are most likely to purchase that product or service once they come to know it is available.

If you've done your research properly, you know exactly how to reach your target audience and then you can get your links in front of them.  If you are unable to get your links in front of a willing and able buyer, you won't make a single dime…

The Internet is a serious business tool for the biggest companies, and the smaller companies use it too as it is often cheaper and more effective than going ahead with simple old fashioned business practices. Advertising, for one thing, costs a lot more in print and in public than it does online.

A good Authority website, then, can be the difference between your business sinking and swimming. There are certain things that can turn a potential customer off a company just from a short view of a website. These are simple things, but they can cost you big money if you allow them to.

1. Duplicate Content

Never copy and paste the content from other websites or sources.   One of the ways that you should use to drive traffic to your authority website is by creating unique content that answers the questions of your target audience.  If you copy and paste material directly from another website, then the master of the google-verse will punish you.  Also, be ready to face legal actions from the actual owners.

2. Lack of a Clear Consistent Message Throughout Your Authority Website

You should always have a clear message for your site visitors.  Explain what your site is about and how your visitors can benefit from your information, products and services.  Every article or video that you post should have a purpose!

3. Poor Writing/Bad Content

You should always create content that is relevant to your audience.  Your content should answer some of the pressing questions and issues that your target audience has and it should be well written and grammatically correct.

4. Broken Links and Improper Linking

Make Sure that you have no broken links and that your links take your readers to pages that are pertinent to the subject at hand.

5. Keyword stuffing.

Back in the day, one way to get the search engines to rank your site was by “stuffing” your content with keywords…  Or having a keyword that you want to rank for “stuffed” into your content multiple times.  The search engines have gotten smarter and these days, this will cause your site to be penalized.

6. Long chunks of text.

The attention spans of the average internet surfers is very very short!  So, to keep the attention of your readers,  break your content into short, meaningful paragraphs and use proper headlines and sub-headlines.

7. No Calls to Action

What is the purpose of your site?  Is it  Lead generation? Direct Sales?  Regardless of the purpose of your site and your content,  make sure that you drive your site visitors to the next action by placing appropriate Calls to Action buttons and phrases.  People need to be told what to do next… So make sure that you tell them by having good calls to action throughout your site and content.

Bonus:

Below are just a few additional things that you should avoid when creating content on your Authority website.

Poor use of images – The wrong image, the wrong size, the wrong placement – these are just three things that can make a potential customer's mind wander. And if you let their mind wander, it may just wander all the way over to one of your competitors.

Personal Twitter/Facebook Feed – Do Not show your personal social media feeds on your professional site.

All Caps Content – All Caps content is harder to read.  All Caps content creates a rectangular form which is harder on both our eyes and brain.   We tend to read words by shape, not by individual letters, and choosing all caps gives the appearance that you are shouting at your readers.

Remember, your authority website is one of the major tools in your marketing arsenal that help you to build your credibility in the marketplace, so do your best to avoid these pitfalls, and you will be on your way to building an Authority Website that attracts your target audience to you and will help you build your business.
