Pay Yourself First: The #1 Habit That Builds Lasting Wealth

Pay Yourself First: The #1 Habit That Builds Lasting Wealth

Chapter 2: Pay Yourself First – The First Law of Wealth

Introduction

One of the most effective yet underutilized strategies for building wealth can be summed up in three simple words: pay yourself first.

This principle has served as a foundational element of personal finance for generations. It is a deceptively simple concept that, when applied consistently, can create significant financial transformation regardless of income level.

In this chapter, we will explore the importance of paying yourself first, how it works in practice, why most people fail to do it, and how to integrate it seamlessly into your financial routine.

What Does It Mean to “Pay Yourself First”?

To “pay yourself first” means prioritizing your own savings and investments before addressing any other financial obligations or discretionary expenses. Rather than saving what is left over after spending, you reverse the order: save or invest first, then live on what remains.

This concept shifts saving from an afterthought to a priority — and that small shift in mindset can have extraordinary long-term benefits.

Why It Works

Most individuals struggle to save not because they lack income, but because their spending expands to consume whatever they earn — a phenomenon known as “lifestyle creep.” Left unchecked, this pattern can leave even high-income earners living paycheck to paycheck.

Paying yourself first interrupts this pattern by enforcing the habit of delayed gratification. It also ensures that saving becomes an automatic and non-negotiable part of your monthly financial behavior.

Over time, this practice builds:

  • A growing emergency fund
  • Retirement and investment assets
  • Confidence and peace of mind

The Mathematical Advantage of Starting Early

To illustrate the power of paying yourself first, consider the following scenario:

  • Individual A saves $250 per month starting at age 25 and stops contributing at age 35 (10 years total)
  • Individual B saves $250 per month starting at age 35 and continues until age 65 (30 years total)

Assuming a 9% annual return:

  • Individual A ends up with $675,000+
  • Individual B, despite saving three times as long, ends up with $540,000+

Key Insight: The earlier you begin, the more your money can grow — even if your total contributions are lower. Time and consistency are powerful forces.

Why Most People Don’t Do This

Despite its simplicity and proven success, the concept of paying yourself first is frequently ignored. Here are a few reasons why:

1. Lack of Awareness

Many individuals simply have not been taught this principle. Financial literacy is not commonly part of the school curriculum, leaving most adults to learn through trial and error.

2. Reactive Budgeting

Most people use a reactive budgeting approach: pay bills, spend on necessities and lifestyle, then try to save what’s left — which is often nothing.

3. Lack of Automation

Without automated systems, people rely on willpower to save. Unfortunately, willpower is unreliable when competing with immediate expenses or temptations.

4. Short-Term Thinking

The benefits of paying yourself first are long-term. Because the reward isn’t immediate, many people deprioritize it in favor of instant gratification.

How to Implement “Pay Yourself First”

Here is a practical roadmap to begin applying this principle effectively:

Step 1: Decide on a Percentage

Start with a minimum of 10% of your gross income. If that feels overwhelming, begin with 5% and increase gradually.

Step 2: Automate Your Savings

Set up an automatic transfer from your checking account to a savings or investment account each payday. Make it invisible and non-negotiable.

Step 3: Treat It Like a Bill

View your savings transfer as a fixed obligation, no different than rent, utilities, or insurance.

Step 4: Adjust Your Lifestyle Accordingly

Learn to live on the remaining 90% (or less) of your income. Budgeting tools and spending trackers can help you stay on course.

Step 5: Protect It From Yourself

Use accounts that are not easily accessible. For long-term savings, consider retirement accounts or investment accounts with limited liquidity to avoid impulse withdrawals.

Real-World Example: The “Invisible $100”

Maria, a teacher earning $4,200 per month, decided to pay herself first by automating a $100 monthly transfer into a Roth IRA. She adjusted her budget slightly by:

  • Making coffee at home ($40 saved)
  • Canceling a gym membership she rarely used ($30 saved)
  • Switching her phone plan ($35 saved)

She didn't feel the difference in her lifestyle — but over 30 years at a 9% return, that modest $100/month will grow to nearly $170,000.

This is the power of a small, consistent action backed by a strong financial principle.

Where Should the Money Go?

The answer depends on your current financial situation and goals. Here are a few priorities:

  1. Emergency Fund – Build at least 3–6 months of living expenses.
  2. Employer-Sponsored Retirement Plan (e.g., 401(k)) – Contribute at least enough to receive any matching contributions.
  3. Roth or Traditional IRA – Great for long-term, tax-advantaged retirement savings.
  4. Investment Account – For non-retirement, long-term goals such as buying a home or building wealth.
  5. High-Yield Savings Account – For short-term savings goals.

The most important thing is to start. You can refine and optimize later.

Common Objections — and How to Overcome Them

“I can’t afford to save right now.” Start small. Even $25 per paycheck gets the habit in motion.

“I have too much debt.” Savings and debt reduction are not mutually exclusive. In fact, an emergency fund can prevent new debt during unexpected expenses.

“I’m not sure where to put the money.” Seek guidance from a licensed financial professional who can help align your savings strategy with your goals.

Action Plan: Start Paying Yourself First Today

To begin applying this essential wealth-building principle, follow these concrete steps:

✅ 1. Choose Your Starting Amount

Commit to a percentage or flat dollar amount you can sustain each month — no matter how small.

✅ 2. Set Up Automation

Use your bank’s transfer tools or payroll direct deposit to route funds into a savings or investment account automatically on payday.

✅ 3. Identify and Trim Waste

Review your spending over the past 30 days and identify 2–3 areas to reduce (subscriptions, dining out, etc.) to make room for your new savings habit.

✅ 4. Track Progress Monthly

Use a simple spreadsheet or budgeting app to measure savings growth. Celebrate milestones.

FAQ:

Q1: How do I come up with fresh content ideas every day?

A: Generating content ideas can be challenging, but there are several strategies you can try. Stay up to date with industry news and trends, listen to your audience's questions and feedback, conduct keyword research, and repurpose existing content. You can also leverage social media platforms and online forums to identify popular topics and address your audience's pain points.

Q2: Does the length of the content matter when publishing daily?

A: The length of your content should align with the value you're providing and the preferences of your target audience. While some topics may require longer, in-depth articles, others can be effectively communicated in shorter formats like blog posts, videos, or social media updates. Focus on delivering valuable information and engaging your audience, regardless of the length.

Q3: Can I maintain quality while publishing content daily?

A: Absolutely! Quality should never be compromised. To maintain high-quality content, establish a content creation process that includes thorough research, editing, and proofreading. Create a style guide to ensure consistency in tone and messaging. If necessary, enlist the help of a trusted editor or proofreader to review your content before publishing.

Q4: How do I measure the success of my daily content publishing efforts?

A: Tracking the success of your daily content publishing involves analyzing various metrics. Monitor website traffic, engagement metrics (such as comments, shares, and likes), conversion rates, and search engine rankings. Additionally, pay attention to audience feedback and monitor the growth of your subscriber or follower base. These indicators will help you gauge the effectiveness of your content strategy.

Q5: What if I run out of ideas or experience writer's block?

A: Writer's block is a common challenge, but there are ways to overcome it. Take breaks and allow yourself time for relaxation and inspiration. Engage in activities that stimulate creativity, such as reading books, attending industry events, or brainstorming with colleagues. Additionally, create an idea bank or content backlog where you can store potential topics and ideas for future use.

Remember, creativity flourishes in different environments, so find what works best for you to overcome those moments of temporary content creation roadblocks.

Q6: Isn't creating and publishing content daily time-consuming? How can I manage it?

A: I hear you, and I get it. Creating and publishing content daily can be quite a challenge, especially if you're a one-person show. But fear not! Here are a few tips to help you manage it effectively:

  1. Plan ahead: Create a content calendar to outline your topics and schedule your posts in advance. This way, you'll always know what to create and when to publish.
  2. Repurpose and recycle: Don't be afraid to repurpose your existing content. Update and refresh your older posts, turn them into different formats (e.g., videos, infographics), and breathe new life into them.
  3. Delegate and outsource: If you have the resources, consider delegating certain content creation tasks or outsourcing them to freelance writers, designers, or videographers. This can help alleviate some of the workload and ensure you have fresh content to publish daily.

Consistency is key, but it doesn't mean you have to do it all on your own. Find a system that works for you and make it happen!

A Pleasing Personality: The Secret to Building Strong Relationships

A Pleasing Personality: The Secret to Building Strong Relationships

Do you have a pleasing personality? As a beginner affiliate marketer, you might think that technical skills, like SEO and marketing strategies, are the only things you need to succeed in the business. However, there is another aspect of the game that is often overlooked but just as important – your personality. In this article, we will explore the principles of a pleasing personality as outlined by Napoleon Hill, a renowned author and motivational speaker. By the end of this article, you will understand how to develop a winning personality that can attract and retain customers.

What is a pleasing personality?

Before we dive into the principles of a pleasing personality, let's first define what it is. Simply put, a pleasing personality is the sum total of qualities and traits that make you likeable, charming, and attractive to others. It encompasses your behavior, attitude, communication style, and emotional intelligence.

Why is a pleasing personality important for affiliate marketing?

As an affiliate marketer, your job is to convince people to buy a product or service through your unique link. You need to establish trust and credibility with your audience, which can be difficult if you come across as cold, distant, or unfriendly. A pleasing personality can help you build a rapport with potential customers, leading to increased sales and a loyal following.

The six principles of a pleasing personality

Napoleon Hill identified six principles that make up a pleasing personality. Let's take a closer look at each one:

1. Positive mental attitude

Having a positive attitude is the foundation of a pleasing personality. It means focusing on the good in any situation and maintaining a can-do spirit even in the face of adversity. Customers are attracted to people who radiate positivity and optimism.

2. Flexibility

Flexibility refers to your ability to adapt to changing circumstances and handle unexpected situations with grace. It means being open-minded and willing to compromise to achieve a common goal.

3. Tact and diplomacy

Tact and diplomacy are essential qualities for anyone who wants to succeed in affiliate marketing. It means knowing how to communicate with people in a way that is respectful, polite, and non-threatening. It also means avoiding confrontations and finding win-win solutions.

4. Sense of humor

A sense of humor can be a powerful tool in building a rapport with customers. It means being able to find the funny side of things and not taking yourself too seriously. However, it's important to use humor appropriately and avoid offensive or inappropriate jokes.

5. Personal magnetism

Personal magnetism is the ability to attract and influence others through your personality. It encompasses qualities such as confidence, charisma, and a strong sense of purpose. People with high levels of personal magnetism are often described as “born leaders.”

6. Skill in human relations

Finally, having skill in human relations means being able

to understand and empathize with other people's needs and emotions. It involves active listening, effective communication, and the ability to build and maintain relationships.

How to develop a pleasing personality

Now that we understand the principles of a pleasing personality, let's explore some ways to develop it.

1. Practice positive thinking

One of the easiest ways to cultivate a positive mental attitude is to practice gratitude and focus on the good in your life. Write down three things you are grateful for every day, and reframe negative thoughts into positive ones.

2. Be open-minded

Being open-minded means being receptive to new ideas and perspectives. Make an effort to learn about different cultures, lifestyles, and beliefs, and be willing to step out of your comfort zone.

3. Learn to listen actively

Active listening involves paying attention to the speaker, asking clarifying questions, and providing feedback. It shows that you value the other person's thoughts and opinions and can help you build stronger relationships.

4. Use humor appropriately

Humor can be a powerful tool in building rapport with customers, but it's important to use it appropriately. Avoid offensive or inappropriate jokes and be sensitive to cultural differences.

5. Develop your communication skills

Effective communication involves not only speaking clearly and concisely but also listening actively and using nonverbal cues. Take courses or workshops on public speaking and interpersonal communication to improve your skills.

6. Improve your body language

Body language can communicate more than words, so it's important to be aware of your nonverbal cues. Make eye contact, use open gestures, and stand or sit up straight to convey confidence and approachability.

7. Be empathetic and understanding

Finally, try to put yourself in other people's shoes and understand their perspective. Show empathy and compassion, and be willing to help them find solutions to their problems.

Common mistakes to avoid when developing a pleasing personality

While developing a pleasing personality is important, there are some common mistakes to avoid:

  • Being insincere or fake
  • Trying too hard to please everyone
  • Failing to set boundaries
  • Neglecting self-care
  • Forgetting to be assertive when necessary

Conclusion

In conclusion, developing a pleasing personality is a crucial component of success in affiliate marketing. By following the principles outlined by Napoleon Hill, such as maintaining a positive mental attitude, being flexible, and having a sense of humor, you can build strong relationships with your audience and increase your sales. Remember to practice active listening, improve your communication skills, and show empathy and understanding to those around you.

How to Get Started with Email Marketing – Part 1

How to Get Started with Email Marketing – Part 1

The single most successful way to do this is via email marketing, whether you run a business, a website, or a blog and want to grow your audience and interaction.

Almost all top marketers will tell you this if you pay attention to them. They almost always claim that email is the most crucial component of their marketing and the factor that contributed to their success.
There is a valid explanation for this, too. Or ten…
You can communicate with your audience very directly by using email marketing. In contrast to other means of marketing, you will be able to communicate with your audience directly through their email inboxes without the need for a middleman. That implies that you are not dependent on a social media site like Facebook or Twitter or vulnerable to prospective changes in policy that might make your messages unheard. Not very long ago, Facebook decided to modify its system so that only a portion of posts from pages reached followers.
Your emails are delivered directly to the recipients when you utilize email. Nothing can stop you from communicating with them, and you are confident that the recipient will get every message you send.

It implies that even if Facebook decides to deactivate your account for no apparent reason (this has really occurred to me), or if they decide to cancel their accounts, you won't lose your extensive list of subscribers.
You and the subscribers have a direct relationship in this situation. However, that barely scratches the surface of what makes email marketing so effective.
As you'll see in the remaining sections of this research, email marketing has a ton additional benefits, which should encourage you to devote more time and effort to it.
By the time you've finished reading this, you'll understand exactly why email marketing is an important component of your online business, and will eagerly read the rest of this online mini-course.

First A Few Stats…

Let's first look at some statistics that demonstrate how effective email marketing is and how it is changing business.
Did you know the following stats?

The ROI for email marketing is 4,300%.

  • 91% of consumers check their email every day (the majority check it much more often!)
  • According to surveys, email marketing is more profitable than PPC, affiliate marketing, content marketing, display advertising, mobile advertising, and social media marketing.
  • 66% of American adults over 15 have bought something as a direct result of email marketing.
  • One-third of customers claim to only open emails based on the subject line.

So, what does all of this all tell us?

Let's start by thinking about ROI. The low barrier to entry is the real driver of email marketing's high return on investment.
ROI stands for “return on investment,” which is the difference between the money you make and the money you spent to get there.

You simply have to pay for an autoresponder in email marketing. After creating an autoresponder account, the only thing left to do is to write the emails  and guess how much it costs to send an email… Absolutely nothing… except for your time and it doesn't really require much time either. In short, email marketing is a really quick and cost effective way to begin marketing.

Another interesting stat is the that 91% of consumers check their email every single day. And though that’s a huge number, the real percentage is probably much higher than that. The reality is that most of us check our phones not only every single day but several times throughout the day.

The reason for this is that we receive a notification every time a new email arrives. It's much harder to miss an email than it is to miss a Facebook post or a tweet on Twitter tweet.

With email, you not only check your inbox frequently but also receive notifications whenever a new message arrives.

4 Reasons You NEED to Invest in Email Marketing

Here are some of the top reasons that you should invest n email marketing:

1. Email Marketing is More Personal

Simply put, email marketing is far more personal than other types of marketing, which is the first and most crucial factor to take into account. You are messaging someone in their inbox when you send them an email, which means that your message will be shown alongside messages from their friends and family as well as all the other things they signed up for.
Your messages are suddenly parsed and interpreted in a different way. Your email message will assume the same relevance as the correspondence in the folder because it has suddenly been placed there.
It is your responsibility as a marketer to capitalize on this as well by ensuring that your content is presented in a way that seems direct and personal. This will have a lot better impact on readers and increase their propensity to sit up and pay attention to what you're saying. Individuals prefer messaging from other people, not from businesses.

2. Email Marketing is Immediate

You have complete control over your message when using email marketing, including the moment at which it is sent.
You can post a message on Facebook or Twitter in the hopes that your followers will read it at some point in the near future.
However, as we've already established, email marketing means that your subscribers will feel a tingle in their pockets as soon as the fresh 8 message arrives. Even if they have a number of unread messages, they will still frequently check their messages to delete those unread contacts throughout the day. This is because they won't receive notifications for every new message.
Now since you can timing when your message is seen, you have some control over the receivers' emotional states at the moment of your message's delivery and their potential reactions.
This is essential because, just like in comedy, timing is vital in marketing. You can take advantage of current events or the fact that your subscribers are probably sleepy and therefore more impulsive if you can deliver a message at the correct moment. No other kind of marketing can give you this level of control.
In the upcoming reports, we'll learn more about how to use timing in email marketing.

3. Permission Is Required for Email Marketing

Since it increases the effectiveness and impact of every communication, this is actually a crucial component of email marketing.
The plain truth is that you must get he recipient's express consent before sending them any marketing emails. And to get that authorization, you need their email address and other contact information. They cannot possibly do this by accident because it is not as simple as clicking “like.”
You might initially assume that this would be a bad thing. After all, it implies that your mailing list will be significantly smaller and that your subscribers may be less likely to subscribe.
However, that is actually a good thing. An enormous plus. Why? As a result, your contacts are of considerably higher quality. In marketing, quality always outperforms quantity, and by a significant margin.
Your recipients will read your messages and be far more likely to click “purchase” or forward the message to friends if they truly want to be there and are interested in signing up.

Additionally, the act of providing you with their email address strengthens that trust. When someone gives you their email and invites you to message them, they are showing that they trust you not to abuse that power and that they value your ideas enough to give up some of their privacy. They ‘join' your movement in this manner.
Again, we’ll look at how you can ensure your contacts are 100% valuable and the right fit for your list in future instalments.

4. Email Marketing Enables Wise Data Use

Something that a lot of eBooks and blogs don’t touch on is just how much data you get when you use email marketing, or how flexibly you can use that data. With email marketing, you’ll be able to sort your contacts into categories, so that you can choose to target only the right kind of recipient with your messages. That might mean that you send messages only to people of a certain age, a certain gender or in a certain location – and this can drastically increase your conversion rates.
However, email marketing also makes it possible to keep track of interaction. You can use cookies in order to see which of your subscribers are actually reading the messages you’re sending and which aren’t. You can also see which of your subscribers are visiting your site and even whether or not some of them might have looked at your products.

All this means you can see which leads are cool, warm and ‘hot’ and in turn, that means you’ll be able to try and convert only the right recipients that are likely to be tempted and not likely to be frustrated at your contact.
On top of that, seeing this kind of information can help you to design better campaigns – by seeing which types of message get opened the most and which types of recipients are more receptive to your message (so that you can try and get more like them).
In short, email marketing gives you control over numerous very important metrics which allows you to target precisely the right people at precisely the right times.
When you combine all these different factors, you have a method of marketing that is simply unparalleled. Many marketers and business owners will put it off as it seems like a lot of work but in reality, once it is set up and you understand how it works, it couldn’t be simpler. And the pay off is enormous. Email marketing absolutely MUST be a part of your marketing strategy and over the rest of this course you’re going to learn how to take advantage of it in a MASSIVE way.
Buckle in!

Building Relationships with Your Audience: A Comprehensive Guide to Drive Business Growth and Increase Engagement

Building Relationships with Your Audience: A Comprehensive Guide to Drive Business Growth and Increase Engagement

At the heart of any successful business is a strong relationship with its audience. Building trust, loyalty, and engagement with your customers can lead to long-term success and growth. In today's digital age, businesses must prioritize building relationships with their audience online, as well as offline.

In this guide, we will provide you with the strategies and tactics necessary to build strong relationships with your audience, increase engagement, and drive business growth.

1. Understand Your Audience

The first step to building relationships with your audience is to understand who they are. This means creating detailed customer personas and gathering data on their demographics, interests, and behaviors. By understanding your audience, you can tailor your messaging and marketing efforts to speak directly to their needs and interests.

When creating customer personas, it's important to consider factors such as age, gender, location, income, education, and job title. You should also consider their pain points, interests, hobbies, and preferred communication channels. You can gather this data through surveys, social media analytics, website analytics, and customer feedback.

2. Personalize Your Communication

Personalized communication is key to building strong relationships with your audience. Use email marketing software to segment your audience and deliver personalized messages based on their interests and behaviors. Address your customers by name, and use language that resonates with them. This will show your customers that you understand and care about their needs, and that you are invested in building a relationship with them.

When sending personalized messages, it's important to avoid sounding robotic or generic. Use a friendly, conversational tone and add personal touches such as their name or recent purchase history. You can also use dynamic content to automatically update your messages with personalized content based on their behavior.

3. Be Authentic

In today's world, authenticity is more important than ever. Consumers want to do business with companies that they trust and believe in. To build trust and credibility with your audience, be authentic in all of your interactions. Be transparent about your values, mission, and goals. Share your successes and failures, and be honest about your business practices. This will help you build a strong foundation of trust with your audience.

Authenticity can also be demonstrated through your brand's visual identity and messaging. Use unique and engaging visuals, such as custom graphics or original photography, to differentiate your brand from competitors. Use a consistent tone and messaging across all channels to establish your brand's voice and personality.

4. Offer Value

Offering value to your audience is essential for building relationships and driving engagement. This means creating content that is educational, informative, and entertaining. Provide solutions to your customers' problems, and offer tips and advice to help them achieve their goals. This will demonstrate your expertise and build trust with your audience.

When creating content, it's important to consider your audience's interests and pain points. Use keyword research to identify the topics that your audience is searching for, and create content that addresses those topics. You can also use social listening tools to monitor conversations about your brand and industry, and create content that addresses common questions or concerns.

5. Engage on Social Media

Social media is a powerful tool for building relationships with your audience. Use social media to engage with your customers, share valuable content, and address their concerns and questions. Use social listening tools to monitor conversations about your brand, and respond to feedback and criticism in a timely and thoughtful manner. This will show your customers that you care about their opinions and are committed to providing exceptional customer service.

When engaging on social media, it's important to consider your brand's tone and messaging. Use a friendly and approachable tone, and respond to comments and messages in a timely manner. You can also use social media to share

user-generated content, such as customer photos and reviews, to showcase your brand's authenticity and build trust with your audience.

6. Host Events and Webinars

Hosting events and webinars is a great way to connect with your audience and build relationships. Offer valuable content and insights, and provide opportunities for your audience to ask questions and interact with your brand. This will help you build trust and credibility with your audience, and establish your brand as a thought leader in your industry.

When hosting events and webinars, it's important to promote them effectively to your audience. Use email marketing and social media to create buzz and encourage sign-ups. You can also partner with other businesses or influencers in your industry to reach a wider audience.

7. Collect Feedback

Collecting feedback from your audience is essential for understanding their needs and improving your products and services. Use surveys, focus groups, and customer feedback forms to gather insights and feedback from your customers. Use this feedback to improve your products and services, and to tailor your messaging and marketing efforts to better meet your customers' needs.

When collecting feedback, it's important to make the process as easy and convenient as possible for your customers. Use short and simple surveys or feedback forms, and offer incentives such as discounts or freebies to encourage participation. You should also use the feedback to make tangible improvements to your business, such as updating your website or adding new products or services.

Building relationships with your audience is essential for driving business growth and success. By understanding your audience, personalizing your communication, being authentic, offering value, engaging on social media, hosting events and webinars, and collecting feedback, you can build strong relationships with your customers and drive long-term success.

Remember that building relationships with your audience is an ongoing process, and requires consistent effort and attention. By prioritizing relationship building, you can create a loyal customer base, increase engagement, and drive business growth.

Russel Brunson’s One Funnel Away Challenge Review

Russel Brunson’s One Funnel Away Challenge Review

Russell Brunson's One Funnel Away

It is essential for all online businesses to build an effective sales funnel.

My book sales increased by 150% after I started using a simple ClickFunnels sales funnel. And compared to thousands of other businesses that use ClickFunnels, my results were modest.

However, it can feel overwhelming to get started if you have never developed a sales funnel before or you are new to selling online.

Where do you start?

I was a total beginner to sales funnels one year ago. So I signed up for the One Funnel Away Challenge. It is the flagship training guide for ClickFunnels which founder Russell Brunson created.

In this comprehensive review of the One Funnel Away Challenge, I will be telling you all about the important aspects of this popular training program that is based on my own personal experience of going through the challenge.

I will be:

Providing you with a comprehensive overview of this challenge.
Give you a step-by-step description of how the program helped me sell more books from my website.
Discuss the pros and cons of enrolling in the challenge.

My review of the One Funnel Away Challenge is ideal for anyone who wants a straightforward introduction to the popular training program or who is a sales funnels newbie.

I wish I would have had this article when I was trying to decide whether or not I should enroll in the program.

So let's get started with my review.

An Introduction To The One Funnel Away Challenge

This virtual 30-day program guides you step-by-step to help you create a very popular and effective sales funnel.

When I was first getting started with sales funnels, I personally went through the challenge.

The instructors of the challenge are Julie Stoian and Russell Brunson. Through video lessons, they teach you everything that they have learned in the process of creating numerous million-dollar sales funnels.

Every day, they break complex topics down and assign missions (homework) to you that you must complete before moving on to the next step in the process.

People are able to retain about 90% of the things they learn when they immediately put them into practice. So completing the daily missions helps to solidify what you have just learned.

However, don't worry, Russell's daily missions are not too hard to complete. They have been designed to help you think outside of the box and stretch your limits.

Once the 30 days are over, you will be prepared to launch your first (or next) sales funnel.

Who The Challenge Is For

Is this challenge right for you? In my opinion, I do not think the challenge is right for everyone.

This is a very fast-paced challenge that is very demanding of your attention and time for a 30-day period.

This challenge is ideal for you if:

You have an idea for starting an online business but are not sure how to get your services or products introduced to consumers
Your business has hit a wall and needs to have a structured game plan to help you make it to the next level
You want to increase your affiliate marketing sales
You have not built a sales funnel before but would like to learn how
You have an existing funnel that needs to be fixed

However, this challenge is probably not best for individuals who:

Who don't have enough time to watch the videos and complete their missions
Are looking for a “get rich quick” plan
Are looking for a training program that can be set aside for weeks
Are not willing to invest money into their business (the challenge does cost money and I will be discussing the price later on in this review)
Believe they have perfect sales funnels already and do not welcome tough-love to help them grow and learn

If any of the above describes you, then you can probably stop reading this review of the One Funnel Away Challenge since this challenge is most likely not right for you.

How I Was Helped By The One Funnel Away Challenge

I really do not like to blow my own horn when it comes to making money online.

Many online marketers are a lot more eager to do this than I am.

However, I do think it is useful to provide you with a step-by-step discussion of who exactly I was helped by this training program.

It will provide context for everything I discuss in my review of the One Funnel Away Challenge.

So here is a brief discussion of my personal experience.

I was a blogger and not earning a lot of money before I found the One Funnel Away Challenge training program. If you happen to be a blogger or know someone who is, then you understand I was not the only one in this situation.

I am a decent writer and did know how to drive lots of traffic over to my website. But I was terrible at earning money from the subjects I was blogging about.

Here is information on my 2019 organic traffic:

By August, my website was receiving more than 60,000 unique visitors per day from search. That was not too bad.

Five years ago, when I first started to blog, I thought I would be earning tons of money if I was ever able to get that level of traffic to my website. AlthoughI was earning a decent amount of money from Adsense and a couple of other things, I wasn't vacationing in The Hamptons.

I realized things needed to change.

One of the most important things that I needed to accomplish was to sell a lot more of my eBooks.

One of the main ways that my website earns money is by selling eBooks. It isn't my main focus but I wanted to get this right.

I wrote 7 eBooks in 2918 on topics that ranged from taking responsibility for your own life to mindfulness to Buddhism. They were good books but my sales were not impressive.

To sell my books, I started to use Shopify. It might be a good e-commerce platform, but it is not well-equipped for helping people sell eBooks. I thought the functionality was poor and the sales pages were ugly.

However, my biggest makes was I didn't have any kind of sales funnel.

I had heard good things about ClickFunnels and sales funnels. However, I had absolutely no idea how to create a sales funnel. So it was pretty daunting starting on my first sales funnel.

This I why I decided to join the One Funnel Away Challenge. To create very profitable sales funnels, I knew that I needed o get some hands-on training.

I learned step-by-step in the One Funnel Away Challenge how to develop the ideal sales funnel for the ebooks that I was selling. It became the launching pad that helped me increase my ebook sales by 150% almost overnight.

Here is exactly how I was able to achieve this.

I have been able to increase my eBook sales by150% one year after starting to use ClickFunnels.

Using Shopify I was selling an average of $120 of eBooks per day and increased it to $300 per day using ClickFunnels.

I haven't significantly increased the amount of traffic going to my sales pages. The keys to my success are that I increased my average order value from $11 up to $19, and my conversion rate is much better.

 One Funnel Away

That is a pretty good increase for something that is just a side hustle for me.

A Close Look At My Sales Funnel

I decided to use the 2-Step TripWire that I learned about while taking the One Funnel Away Challenge.

It is a fairly simple funnel and ideally suited for the eBooks I am selling.

Offering an irresistible upsell is the key to the funnel.

One of my eBooks costs $9. After buying it, they are transferred to my 1-click high-priced upsell. If they do no purchase my upsell, then they are offered a 1-click lower-priced downsell.

My 1-click upsell contains a bundle that includes all 7 of my eBooks. It costs $25. My 1-click downsell contains 2 ebooks that are closely related to the eBook they just purchased. The cost of the downsell is $8.

The funnel's 1-click aspect is very important. The customer's credit card information has already been collected from the one eBook they have already purchased so the downsell or upsell can be added to their shopping cart with just one click. It isn't necessary to ask them again for their credit card information.

My sales funnels include the following 6 steps:

Sales page
Order form
1-click Upsell
1-click Downsell
Order confirmation
eBooks Delivery

Instead of being only able to earn $9 on one eBook from a customer, I now can earn as much as $34 per transaction.

How I was helped by the One Funnel Away Challenge.

The funnels you will be designing after you take the challenge will probably be much different than mine. Depending on what kind of business you have, sales funnels can be quite different.

The One Funnel Away Challenge helps you design almost any kind of sales funnel that you want to.

Why You Should Care About Funnels

I want to briefly discuss why funnels are so important before getting into the details of the One Funnel Away Challenge program

If you do not understand why sales funnels are so critical for your business, then you will not understand why the information that the challenge shares with you is so invaluable.

You will not want to skip this section of the review if online selling is new to you.

A sales funnel is basically a journey that helps to guide your customer in the direction of your offer, whether it is an affiliate sale, service, or product.

With a properly structured funnel, it acts like a salesperson that shows your prospects the way and motivates them to buy from you.

Every day we participate in multiple ales funnels, from buying morning coffee to shopping online to purchasing groceries.

As a shrewd business owner, it is important to know you to properly optimize your sales funnels to obtain more clicks, leads, and sales, ultimately.

Sales funnels can, unfortunately, be complex, so if you don't understand what an effective sales funnel looks like, then you could up causing more harm than good.

A sales funnel that is poorly designed along the way will leak prospects, which will leave you with frustrated customers and low conversion rates.

A well-designed sales funnel, on the other hand, is the key to being able to scale your business.

You will be taken by the hand by the One Funnel Away Challenge that will take you everything you need to know to develop high-converting sales funnels to use in your business.

Does this sound good to you? Let's take a close look at the program.

What is included in the One Funnel Away Challenge?

This robust system has been designed to get you set up properly to earn more money online.

After you have enrolled, a box will be delivered to your doorstep full of resources and materials (if you decide to pay for the shipping, otherwise all the materials are online).

Here is what you will receive.

30 Days of Russell Brunson MIssion Videos

Russell Brunson, the ClickFunnels founder, started his very own $360 million SaaS business, which he funded completely himself.

He has millions of entrepreneur followers and is a best-selling author who has sold more than 250,000 books.

Brunson is definitely someone you definitely want to listen to.

For 30 days, Brunson will be sending you various missions that help to simplify the sales funnel-building process.

Coaching for 30 Days from Julie Stoian and Stephen Larsen

Julie Stoian, who is also a seven-figure entrepreneur, provides you with the exact necessary steps to put Brunson's mission into action.

Stoian will help you get the funnel-creation process started and guide you the entire way.

Stephen Larsen has built more than 500 sales funnels and is ClickFunnels' former Lead Sales Funnel Builder.

After leaving ClickFunnels, he started his own company and in just 13 months earned more than $1 million.

Stephen leads group calls on a daily basis and helps to keep you accountable. He will tell you exactly what you need to know and is a straight shooter.

Bonuses

The accountability calls and training videos above are worth over $2,000 when offered separately, and all you need to create your very own sales funnels.

However, Russell Brunson, like all good salesmen, adds a number of bonuses to make it even more enticing to sign up for his challenge.

You will receive the following bonuses immediately after enrolling in the One Funnel Away Challenge.

Physical workbook copy

It has been shown in studies that writing down notes using pen and paper can help you better remember what you are learning compared to just digital notations.

Your physical workbook can be used to take notes to help you remember what you have learned.

Hardcover 30 Days book

Brunson asked 30 members from the Two Comma Club (members of ClickFunnels who have earned over $1 million from their funnels) the following question:

“If you were to lose everything, including your followers, reputation, and name, what would you do?” How would you earn your millions back in just 30 days?”

So he asked these members to provide a daily plan for people just beginning, so they could achieve $1 million in sales.

The answers were compiled and added to a hardcover book.

It provides you with 30 different blueprints in one place for building a million-dollar sales funnel.

This is an awesome bonus.

MP3 Player containing all of the recordings

If it is difficult for you to fit in one extra hour of work each day, then the MP3 player can be used to listen to the daily recordings to help make things easier.

The coaching calls from the final challenge are also included in the recordings.

The MP3 includes more than 40 hours of interviews and coaching calls in total that can be listened to anywhere at your convenience.

30 Day Interviews – Unlimited Access

Throughout the 30 day challenge, you will be working on getting your missions completed and building high-converting sales funnels of your own.

This bonus includes interviews that are full of helpful advice, but you do not have enough time to watch all of them during your 30-day challenge, you will have unlimited access and can watch them later.

Two Comma Club Interviews

In the interviews, 30 members of the Two Comma Club discuss the mistakes they made (to help you avoid them) and the things they did right (to draw on their success).

These members do not hold anything back and only OFA Challenge members have access to these interviews.

What you will learn

The following is an overview of the things you will learn during the One Funnel Away 5-week challenge:

Pre-challenge week – This covers developing the proper mindset to get your business moving forward in the right direction.

Week 1 –  You will be taught the basics of how to effectively sell online, which includes using a hook to grab the attention of your customers, why storytelling is so important and how to build an attractive and irresistible offer.

Week 2 – Sales copy. I enjoyed this week the most since it is so relevant to selling eBooks. I learned precisely how to get hooks implemented, tell an interesting story that evokes an emotional reaction from prospects, and how that “aha” moment can be generated in the audience's mind about your offering.

Week 3 – This week covers the nuts and bolts of how to build a sales funnel. I could not have found this practical advice anywhere else. I learned how to make sales pages, One Time Offers (OTOs), sequence pages, etc.

Week 4 – The focus is on promotion and traffic. Although I am a big fan of organic traffic and am an SEO guy, it was very interesting to learn about the various paid traffic opportunities that are available.

Over the course of the 5 weeks, I learned hundreds of different practical things. However, there were two things that really stood out as being complete game changers for my business:

How to exactly tell the story for whatever product I am trying to sell. As explained by Russell Brunson during the first couple of weeks of the challenge, there is a template available to tell stories to build trust, emotion, and belief that can be applied to any product. After learning this, my sales pages have greatly improved.

Creating a sales funnel. By the time I got to the end of my challenge, I had learned everything I needed to know about how to design a high-converting sales funnel using ClickFunnels to build it. I learned how to build upsell pages, squeeze pages, sales pages, etc, and the proper sequence to use depending on the specific product.

Many people claim you must listen to and read everything provided by the 3 instructors and complete every homework assignment. I think that is overstating the program and how rigid it is.

Compared to many online marketing courses, you do have to do more work. However, I skimmed over a couple of things that were not as relevant to my business and then focused in like a laser on things that were very important to me.

I think with this program it is fine to do some cherry-picking.

Russell Brunson's One Funnel Away Challenge

One Funnel Away Challenge Benefits

In addition to receiving materials worth thousands of dollars that you cannot find anywhere else, there are some other benefits to the OFA Challenge that I would like to point out.

Many doors will open for you after you join the One Funnel Away Challenge, which includes the opportunity to get to know some of the leading online marketers (Russell, Stephen, and Julie).

You can also interact with other members of the challenge. Many of them are great to get acquainted with and network with.

One Funnel Away Challenge Drawbacks

This is really a fast-paced course. There is no option for working through it slowly.

You will end up falling behind if you decide to take some time off.

I was not the most devoted challenge student but I did force myself to set aside some time on most days to keep learning new things from the challenge.

Is it worth it to work hard for 30 days to learn how to create very profitable sales funnels?

For me, it definitely was.

One Funnel Away Challenge Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the program cost?

It costs $100 to take the One Funnel Away Challenge. If you would like to have a physical kit, then you will need to pay a shipping charge. Within the US it will cost $19.95 and outside the US costs $29.95.  There is also the option of the digital-only version without any shipping cost.

Is the challenge worth the price tag?

There is a total investment of $100 to enroll in the One Funnel Away Challenge.

It is not simply pocket change but compared to everything you will learn, it is a fairly small price. By the time you have finished the program, you will be earning our money back within one day with your improved and new sales funnels.

I definitely did earn my money back on the first day that my sales funnel was launched.

And to put this $100 into perspective even further, currently, Russell Brunson charges $100,000 for a client to sit down with him for just one day of coaching. That doesn't even include Stephen's and Julie's coaching rates.

However, you get 30 days of coaching with the OFA Challenge with three of the best marketers in the world for a low price.

Is a ClickFunnels membership necessary?

One of the best things about the challenge is that no other add-ons or software are necessarily needed to learn from the provided information or complete the work.

To be completely transparent, ClickFunnels does make the entire funnel-building process a lot easier. After you join the challenge, you may want to sign up for ClickFunnels.

It will definitely help to have a ClickFunnels account, by the third week of the challenge when you start to build your own sales funnels.

However, there are several different ways that you can build a sales funnel:

Use funnel building software
Use email marketing software
Via your website

So, don't worry if you want to join the challenge but not sign up for ClickFunnels. You can still benefit from all that the course offers.

Why can't I just learn what I need to know online for free?

It is definitely possible to learn about direct response marketing and sales funnels for free.

Most of the things that I have learned about online marketing and blogging have been from free online resources. However, I signed up for the One Funnel Away Challenge without hesitation.

Here is the reason why.

First of all, there are almost 55 million Google results for “sales funnels for beginners.”

However, many of these resources are inaccurate and outdated.

Also, just think about how much time it will you to piece together all of the information on your own.

How much is your time actually worth. If you have years or months to learn how to create effective sales funnels completely by yourself and you aren't in a hurry to take your business to the next level, then you might want to try learning everything on your own.

You will also probably make some mistakes in the process, which can cost you future customers and sales.

When considering it from this perspective, $100 is not that big of an investment if it will help to prevent lost sales and wasted time.

If you would like to learn how to build profitable sales funnels in 30 days, then your answer is the One Funnel  Away Challenge.

Second of all, free courses are notorious for having very low completion rates. In fact, 85% of all individuals who enroll in free courses and programs do not complete them.

You are probably thinking that you are different and would complete a free course. However, when you need to invest your own money, it is much more likely that you will go through the materials of the course and learn the content.

Can the challenge be joined at any time?

No, unfortunately, not.

Since the challenge is very hands-on, Stephen, Julie, and Russell need to work it into their schedules in order to provide you with personalized attention.

It is currently open but there isn't any guarantee that it will be opened up again (There is no date set or the next challenge or even stated plans of there being another one).

Final Verdict

Recently there has been a lot of buzz among online business owners and entrepreneurs about the One Funnel Away Challenge.

When it comes to online courses, particularly internet marketing ones, I tend to be fairly skeptical. And the ultimate salesman is definitely Russell Brunson, as can be seen from the One Funnel Away Challenge's shiny sales page.

However, the truth of the matter is that genuine value is provided by the One Funnel Away Challenge to those who commit themselves to the 30-day training program.

Before signing up for the challenge, I hit a brick wall trying to sell my eBook. I was able to increase my eBook sales by 150% immediately after I launched my first ClickFunnels sales funnel.

If you do a small amount of work each day for 30 days, then the One Funnel Away Challenge can help you earn more money online.
